Mike in Syracuse Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Here's an excellent article on DeHaven's return to Buffalo. Here's the part that SCREAMED to me: "Buddy Nix is a football guy, just wait and see," DeHaven said. "You don't have to take my word for it, but Buddy Nix knows football players. There are a lot of guys out there who know heights and weights and 40-yard times, but not all of those scouts can tell you whether the guy is a football player. Buddy Nix can." http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/story/943876.html

stinky finger Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Just wait and see? How long do we have to wait?
PromoTheRobot Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Yeah but isn't he old? And talks funny? And doesn't have ESPN slobbering over him 24/7? PTR
RayFinkle Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Just wait and see? How long do we have to wait? 3 years.
joey greco Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 I'm shocked to hear someone praise the man who just gave him a job. This endorsement is definitive proof that Nix was the perfect choice to fix this team's many ills. I mean, obviously DeHaven has a huge axe to grind and still can't do anything but praise Nix's skills as a scout. Great find, all arguments should cease immediately. I mean, never mind that nobody said he's not a good scout. But there's a hell of a lot more to being the general manager than spotting good players.
BuffaninATL Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 who cares how old he is? as long as he can function & produce results, why is age a concern? Yeah but isn't he old?
Rubes Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 who cares how old he is? as long as he can function & produce results, why is age a concern? Sarcasm, dude. Learn it.

If a GM can pick players, what else does he need to do? We've had 10+ years of GM's who couldn't pick between a tootsie roll and a dog turd. I'll be perfectly happy with a disheveled funny-talkin' senior citizen of a GM is he can make us a winner. On a side note, great article by Bucky. It is possible to write about the Bills without resorting to doom and gloom. If Sully wrote that article he would have focused on far DeHaven has fallen, having to crawl back to the team that threw him out the door. PTR

Apparently you've completely overlooked the fact that Nix has been hired to run the FOOTBALL operations NOT the organization. Sarcasm only works if you have your facts straight otherwise you just wind up looking stupid. Case in point.
RkFast Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Just wait and see? How long do we have to wait? Until Tomorrow. If things dont improve by tomorrow, you can call WGR and start screaming for Nix' firing, with the rest of the mongos.

I think there's a general funk in place that is just plain pissed that everything can't be fixed yesterday. It's going to be a long, long off season.
May Day 10 Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 This "football guy" line is repeated by everyone there and makes me skeptical as it is in direct response to fans' criticism of the front office and Russ Brandon running the show. Ralph Wilson said that about 50 times in the Nix promotion press conference, and I have heard it reapeated by everyone since.

Hasn't that been the biggest problem with the team this decade?
BillsRUs Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Sarcasm, dude. Learn it. I vote that the mods put up a sticky insisting that all sarcastic statements be italicized.
MattyT Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Good to see that employees are keeping up with the long tradition of kissing their boss's hind quarters.

gobillsinytown Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Good to see that employees are keeping up with the long tradition of kissing their boss's hind quarters. Then again, it might not be prudent to say something like: "my boss sucks" two days after you're hired.
