Astrobot Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 Assume no big name free agent signings (Dansby, McNabb) have been made, TO is let go, and the Bills stick with a 4-3 as base defense. Here are 5 players we think will be available at our pick in each round, and at least one who we think won't be (although you could pick them one round early). Make the picks you think give us the best chance to win over the next 2 years. ROUND 1 (McClain isn't there--goes to KC at #5; Clausen-Bradford are gone) ---Trent Williams OT Oklahoma ---Dez Bryant WR Oklahoma State ---Dan Williams DT Tennessee ---Terrence Cody DT Alabama ---Bryan Bulaga OT Iowa ---Derrick Morgan DE Georgia Tech ---Anthony Davis OG Rutgers ---Mike Iupati OG Idaho ---Sean Weatherspoon OLB Missouri ---Colt McCoy QB Texas ROUND 2 (Kindle-Spikes gone) ---Tim Tebow QB Florida ---Jermaine Gresham TE Oklahoma ---Mardy Gilyard WR Cincinnati ---Jason Pierre-Paul DE South Florida ---Aaron Hernandez TE Florida ---Tony Pike QB Cincinnati ---Vladimir Ducasse OG Massachusetts ---Mike Johnson OT Alabama ---Tyson Alualu DT California ROUND 3 (Willie Young DE, Bowman LB, Jason Fox OT gone) ---Arthur Jones DT Syracuse ---Daryl Washington ILB TCU ---Eric Norwood ILB South Carolina ---Matt Tennant OC Boston College ---Jeremy Williams WRF Tulane ---Jordan Shipley WRS Texas ---Jevan Snead QB Mississippi ---Selvish Capers OT West Virginia ---Ben Tate RB Auburn ---Ed Dickson TE Oregon ---Dexter McCluster WR Mississippi ROUND 4 (D'Anthony Smith DT, Ciron Black OT/OG, Muckleroy LB gone) ---Dan LeFevour QB Central Michigan ---Brandon Lang DE Troy ---O'Brien Schofield OLB Wisconsin ---George Selvie DE South Florida ---Zane Beadles OG Utah ---Tony Moeaki FB Iowa ---Dekoda Watson OLB Florida State ---Micah Johnson ILB Kentucky ---Danario Alexander WR Missouri ---A.J. Edds OLB Iowa Still on the board after our #4 pick, which you may use: ---Mitch Petrus OG Arkansas ---Brandon Carter OG Texas Tech ---Jared Veldheer OT Hillsdale ---Thaddeus Gibson OLB Ohio State ---Jarrett Brown QB West Virginia My Picks: ---Bryan Bulaga OT Iowa ---Tony Pike QB Cincinnati ---Eric Norwood ILB South Carolina ---Brandon Lang DE Troy And taking ---Jared Veldheer OT Hillsdale in the 5th
PushthePile Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 Bulaga- quality OT and another quality move towards building a solid O-line. Pike- high potential QB, who could be in the mix for starting right away or down the road. McCluster- explosive and dynamic playmaker. His stock is rising fast and I doubt he's available this late. Schofield- good rushing OLB and could contribute from Day 1
/dev/null Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 1---Bryan Bulaga OT Iowa 2---Tony Pike QB Cincinnati 3---Jordan Shipley WRS Texas 4---Tony Moeaki FB Iowa

Schofield- good rushing OLB and could contribute from Day 1 McCluster's stock will rise and fall all the way to April. My take right now is that McCluster's diminutive size makes him a Roscoe Parrish type player--darting water bug, good punt returner, likely hurt when he plays over the middle with the big boys. I like your picks, though, and hope that Pike falls to RD2#41...
Jeffery Lester Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 1. C.J. Spiller, Electric with the ball. 2. M. Johnson OT Ala. Talent at tackle is sorely needed. 3. Dan Lefevour. QB CM. Big Kid used to the weather. 4. Arthur Jones Syr. Maybe wishes do come true.
voodoo poonani Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 My Picks:---Bryan Bulaga OT Iowa ---Tony Pike QB Cincinnati ---Eric Norwood ILB South Carolina ---Brandon Lang DE Troy And taking ---Jared Veldheer OT Hillsdale in the 5th My Picks: ---Bryan Bulaga OT Iowa ---Tony Pike QB Cincinnati ---Eric Norwood ILB South Carolina ---Thaddeus Gibson OLB Ohio State I'd like a DT in there somewhere, but would really like to see the LB corps revamped. An OT and QB will go a long way, but I don't think the Bills will start a rookie QB.

I don't think the Bills could afford taking him in the second round but to me he is worth the risk in round three. Durability is always a concern when dealing with players his size. Keep in mind that Dexter had 181 carries last season, (6.5 average) in the SEC. Down the stretch his workload was expanded and his carries for the last five games were 22, 22, 25, 24, and 16. Mix in 44 receptions on the year and I think he is more accomplished and proven than Roscoe Parrish, who had 42 receptions and 9 carries his final year of college. If McCluster is used as a changeup RB/WR, I think he could be a solid weapon for an NFL team.
Astrobot Posted January 31, 2010 Author Posted January 31, 2010 My Picks:---Bryan Bulaga OT Iowa ---Tony Pike QB Cincinnati ---Eric Norwood ILB South Carolina ---Thaddeus Gibson OLB Ohio State I'd like a DT in there somewhere, but would really like to see the LB corps revamped. An OT and QB will go a long way, but I don't think the Bills will start a rookie QB. I like all four of your picks. Plus your picks allow the 3-4 more. I will tell you that there are still some good DT's left on many mocks at RD#5, even though the very best ones will gone by RD1#9.
Tsaikotic Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 1 - Bryan Bulaga OT Iowa or Anthony Davis OG Rutgers 2 - Jason Pierre-Paul DE South Florida 3 - Arthur Jones DT Syracuse 4 - A.J. Edds OLB Iowa

Cody, not sure how that could happen though

But here's who are still there at RD5: Kavell Conner OLB43 Vince Oghobaase DT43 John Jerry OG Naaman Roosevelt WRF Buffalo Geno Atkins DT Mike Williams WRF Syracuse Ted Larsen OG Jamar Chaney ILB Mississippi State Dennis Pitta TE BYU Lindsey Witten OLB34 Connecticut Alex Carrington DE34 Arkansas State Colin Peek TE Alabama John Skelton QB Fordham
JStranger76 Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 I'm gonna pretend the Bills signed either Aubrayo Franklin or Ryan Pickett in free agency at DT. 1- tied with Bulaga and Davis OT's 2-DE Jason Pierre-Paul or TE Gresham 3- WR Jordan Shipley 4- best LB remaining, inside or outside, don't care which
Tortured Soul Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 Nawrocki's mock had Pierre-Paul going third overall. You think he'll be available in the second round? That's a move you'd have to make, then.

He makes great tackles, has a decent blitz ability, and occasionally plays down end, playing it with tenacity.
