32. They are both cool. I would say Mandalay because you can walk to everything easier. Its right on the strip, where hard rock is more of a hike.

I would second Mandalay due to location. However, if you are not interersted in Casino hopping the Hard Rock really caters to a younger (20's-30's) crowd. Both are quite spiffy.

I vote a strong mandalay on this one.

You go to hard rock for one reason - the pool, which is filled with ridiculously hot women but is closed from november - march or april. You can also gamble at the pool there and they have some good restaurants and clubs, but you can go to those anyway.

Mandalay has more restaurants, more bars, more gambling and has plenty of eye candy as well and is closer to the other casinos.

I'm 34 and I've gone during March Madness for the past 2 years. I stayed at the Trop the first year and hated it. Stayed at Excalibur this year and liked it well enough. I'm there to gamble on basketball, so I really like Madalay Bay for the sports book. Where I lay my head really doesn't matter much to me. Hard Rock is better for women, but it's a bit away from the action of the Strip. I don't think you'll be disappointed either way, but I'd vote Hard Rock.

Since $ isn't a problem, I suggest getting a limo for your transportation. You'll avoid the lines and the cost is about the same.

Enjoy!

Hard Rock has, without a doubt, the best talent in Vegas. Gorgeous and young. But it's off the Strip, the gaming floor isn't that huge, the sports book blows, and it really does gun for the under thirty crowd. Mandalay is on the Strip (if at the quieter end), has great restaurants, an excellent gaming floor, a good book, and caters to a more upscale crowd than most of its neighbors on the south side of the Strip. It's an excellent casino/hotel.

I would go with Mandalay, because it gives you more options. You can always cab it over to Hard Rock. (All that said, I still think the Mirage is the best bang for your buck in town.)

I'm 31 and this is a no-brainer....stay at Mandalay.

There's no doubt Hard Rock has great talent...women that is, but the rooms remind me of a college dorm, it's off the strip so you need to cab it everywhere, the casino is always overcrowded, and you're stuck with their 2 or 3 places to eat.

And if money is no object, check out Mandalay's new property, The Hotel. It's their upscale hotel that friends have said is fantastic.

This is true. So if you're going to be there when the pool is open, go for the hard rock and spring for the cabana. Very cool scene. If not, I'd agree with whoever said the Mirage.

21, and worked this summer at the MGM Grand (hoping to go back in 6 months after graduation). Stayed at Hard Rock twice and was at Mandalay countless times - if it was the summer I'd say pick HR because of the aforementioned pool (I just called it heaven while I was there), but Mandalay is the best option for you. Huge gaming floor, good restaurants, lots of good looking women roaming around, and it's walking distance to everywhere on the strip. If you're there on a Monday night and have some cash, make your way up to the Foundation Room on the top floor. It's an exlusive night club/bar run by the House of Blues - $30 cover IIRC but well worth it. Saw TONS of gorgeous women all night, and the view is absolutely amazing (the outside patio is the opening you can see on the top floor from the outside). Breathtaking views. As I said, though, the gaming floor is great, you can lose yourself there. Saw Blue Man Group next door at the Luxor, great show as well. I would be promoting the MGM, but since Mandalay will be owned by MGM Mirage in a few months anyway, it doesn't matter :w00t:

Definitely Mandalay - and have a great time!

Hey Nose,

Did you ever check out the Fontana Room at the Bellagio? The patio there is a view of the fountains. 2 drink minimum and the music is excellent.

Very cool.

One other weakness of the Hard Rock is that it does not have poker (at least as of last May – this may have changed). If you or any of your buddies want to play, you pretty much have to take a cab somewhere because it is so isolated.

I loved staying there – all the comments about the pool were dead on – the scene there is staggering - and the food at the Hard Rock was surprisingly excellent. I also liked having rock music playing all the time, and the girls were phenomenal.

I’ve never stayed at Mandalay, but all my impressions on a brief visit there for poker and the sports book were very positive. I did lose a hand of seven card stud with an aces-up full house (straight freakin’ flush), but I won’t hold that against Mandalay.

I'm 32.

I agree. The pool at Hard Rock is really nice but it was overcrowded with the typical college spring break scene....hot women with muscle head guys trying to act as "players" and some garden variety player-wannabees getting nowhere. Being 39, I didn't even get glances from the young ladies but hey, I'm married so what do I care right?!? Anyway, the Mandalay Bay is much better if you ask me and especially if you've grown out of that Hard Rock scene.

51. Just got back from Vegas 2 weeks ago.

Hard Rock hands down. Especially if your buddies like Rock N Roll. And where else can you eat at The Pink Taco?? Great pool. Great lookin' women. Great Music.

One of my absolute favorite casinos.
