aussiew
There are several variations, but the basic recipe is layered sherry soaked sponge cake, vanilla custard, fresh fruit, preserves, nuts and whipped cream. Set up and chilled for a good 24 hours or so to let the favors blend. Very rich. Very rich....very good.....and very British. It's also popular with the Aussies. theesir
My favorite dessert I ever had was Red Velvet Cake. A friends mom made it and I've never seen or heard of anyone making it again. If anyone is familiar with this, I would love a recipe.

Live&DieBillsFootball
My wife makes 2 different cheesecakes, a chocolate covered one and a caramel-apple one with a crust made mostly of crushed walnuts. Awesome! I also love pecan, pumpkin, lemon meringue, apple, blueberry, cocoanut cream pies.
Just Jack
Grape pie.....served warm with vanilla ice cream... 131179[/snapback] I was in the Finger Lakes region today, usually you see several roadside signs for Grape Pie. Today, none. I was disappointed because I wanted to pick one up for Thanksgiving.
