We have a lot of youngsters here...

What is asinine about the whole situation is that Wade wouldn't go to the mat for Bruce, but laid down in front of the bus for Ronnie Jones- or whoever that clown was he wouldn't fire at Wilson's insistence.

Exactly what i was thinking, great hire

Phillips WAS fired because of a STs coach (Ronnie Jones a year later), but to be honest, I can't remember if Ralph was all that vocal about the MCM. More likely, he would have been bitching about the refs...

Good read on DeHaven from back then:

Thanks, sounds like he missed the city.

Ronnie was a friend of the family. In fact, Wade's son Wes was the QBs coach under Jones at West Texas A+M until Jones got the ax.

And that's a fun little story in itself:

(I heart Google ... )

He's not even the HC there!!!

Well, wasn't it Philips who made him the scapegoat and brought in his crony? I don't think there was any particular bad blood between DeHaven and Ralph Wilson or the FO.

Ya know if we did not fire DeHaven back then, it's a posibility Wade could still be our coach today....

Great Hire!

As far as I'm concerned, any coach who would sign with this train wreck of a franchise is showing bad judgement of a kind I wouldn't necessarily want in a coach. Doubly so for a coach that is RE-signing after being fired ten years ago for a single play.

thanks for harshing my buzz.

He's no Bobby April but he's probably the next best thing.

Please remind me of why he was fired. My memory fails me on that one. Thanks.

He was Bobby April before Bobby April became Bobby April.

It's just a PR move, to sell season tickets. Next thing you know, they'll be re-signing Chuck Dickerson to coach the DL.

I think coaches tend to defend their own hires no matter how badly they perform.

Bruce DeHaven will be a good hire, now if only he can find another Steve Tasker :D

Big thumbs up to getting DeHaven back.

I gotta say, I am impressed with what Nix and Gailey have done so far at this very early stage. Here's hoping we get a good DC as well!
