Thirty Year Fan Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Newest Info from the Mrs. I didn't find Matrix guy, but the attending physician told me that there was absolutely nothing to worry about. I grilled him and he had no idea what autoimmune response she could've been talking about. Gah....all the nurses have been great up to this point. I really think she could've kept her bad information to herself. We saw the ear, nose, and throat doctor this morning. Doctor Lee says based on what he sees, no surgery will be necessary. Tubes, maybe. Steroids to treat meningitis-related nerve damage, maybe. Hearing aid, probably. Huh, now he won't have any reason to claim he didn't hear me. There is a *rumor* that he might go home this weekend with the IV still in for antibiotics and home nursing care to help manage it. Philip will be home this weekend with the lovely Megan and little Jasper kitty. Yeah! Took lunch to the girls at school this afternoon. Thanks to Christie and my MRE/MRI teacher buddies for the moolah and the gift cards. Jason's Deli tasted great. Notes: *His mouth is still sore and eating is tough *I chec ked the mail for the first time in a few days and there were like 30 cards! Thank you all so much. *He showered and shaved yesterday so he's lookin' good. Wahwahwah as Chachi would say. Great news god bless double B!!
CowgirlsFan Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Whatever you do, keep him away from watching any more Sabres games until he gets home. I agree TOO!!!! But then he might enjoy seeing a few shifts of those famous " NO GOAL" struggling this year Dallas Stars!!!
bartshan-83 Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Alight, BB...let's get this thing moving. I'm reading all these updates and it looks like you are walking around, shaving, being a smartass and eating BBQ for chissakes! Stop milking this and get your azz back to TBD! For real, so glad to keep hearing the good news. I can't imagine what a whirlwind this has been for you and your family. Keep getting stronger...we'll be here waiting.
Lenigmusx Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Wish you the best and a speedy recovery Beerball!
thebug Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Nice timing BB, looks like you could be home for the Superbowl! (fingers crossed). Keep up the fight, good luck to you, you have amazing support.
LeviF Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 New journal update up: Got home at a reasonable hour last night....nineish....and ate some of Trisha's enchiladas. After eating neighbor Carol and Bill's brownies and drinking a cup of cocoa I was ready to sleep. First good night in a long while. Got the girls off to school bright and early then commenced to scrubbing this house from stem to stern. It looks like our boy is coming home this afternoon! Yesterday, they put in an iv access point in his arm (he's had one in his lower neck/upper chest). I'm gonna have to get over any squeamishness because apparently I am responsible for some sort of flushing/cleaning/drug administering process. My mind went blank when the nurse was telling me about it. All I heard was blahblahblood, blahblahdanger, bloodbloodblahblah. Gonna have to get them to repeat it and take notes. Next week will be full of out patient visits to specialists: ENT guy, Dr. Matrix, physical therapy, etc. Looks like I won't be back at work until the week after next. Playing it by ear, no pun intended. Off to clorox the bathroom. Love to all and thanks. !@#$ yeah!

I hope, when Dr. Matrix addresses Beerball, he responds "My name...is Neo..."

Hopefully he'll be able to use the laptop at home to start going through these messages. BTW, what is the etiquette on this? How long til we can start busting his balls about all of this. I think it's only fair to give him some time to decompress from this whole thing. So, IMO, I think we should all wait at least 5 minutes after his first post to start ragging on him. JMO.

Golden Wheels Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Glad to hear BB is on his way to going home. Hope you'll get clearance to start pounding the brew sooner than later. Wishing you a complete recovery.
Chef Jim Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 That's very generous of you, considering that it's ten minutes more than we'd give you. Hell we'd be ragging on him while he was still unconscious.

IDBillzFan Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 That's very generous of you, considering that it's ten minutes more than we'd give you. That does it. If you're ever on your death bed, you can forget having Steely Dan by your side.
Toledo Bill Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 I just found out about this (thanks to Stuck in Cinci) and hope Beerball's recovery goes well. All petty things in life go away when something serious arises. My family is keeping him and his family in our prayers.
BLZFAN4LIFE Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Latest journal update... Friday, February 5, 2010 7:43 PM, CST I'm about to stage a jailbreak. John can't come home until tomorrow. All three specialists said he could go but the attending physician had the day off and her replacement is playing it safe...by tomorrow John will have had a full ten days of IV antibiotics and can switch to pills. I'm ok with safe but John, not so much. He wants out! You're both obviously anxious to get home, but this is more good news. May it only keep getting better!

Besides Steely Dan really misses you.
