bills_red Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-3...12-e28749931a34 Curtis Modkins has been hired as the team’s offensive coordinator/running backs coach, Bob Bicknell as tight ends coach, Joe D’Alessandris as offensive line coach, Kevin Patullo as offensive quality control and Giff Smith as defensive assistant. Gailey also elected to keep two of the most veteran assistants from the Bills previous coaching staff as George Catavolos will remain as secondary coach and Bob Sanders will also continue to serve on the defensive side of the ball. Ever Since '86 Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-3...12-e28749931a34 Thaank you sir Great news
Steely Dan Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Thanks for the info! http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-3...12-e28749931a34 I don't know about the other coaches until I look them up but Catavolos is a good keeper, IMO. The Bills secondary is their strong point.
Mr. ChumChums Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 I like the 2 coaches that we kept. This is good. Thought Sanders did a great job of helping our D-Line get pressure this year on the QB...which was a HUGE issue last season before we brought Sanders in. Now he has to help our line stop the run... George Catavolos...for obvious reasons, did a great job. Good to see continuity where it matters
High Mark Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 So who is OC and DC? Any clues to what schemes (4-3/3-4, Big running style/ spread passing style/ zone blocking/man blocking) we are running? I havent heard of any of these guys.
DanInUticaTampa Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Yeah, Sanders was one of the few bright spots on the coaching staff last year. He really improved our line.

1976Billsfan Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 I like these moves! Very glad that we're keeping Sanders and Catavolous (sp). I'm just dying to know who's gonna run this D.
dpberr Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Solid hire in Joe D’Alessandris. I figured he'd be one of the coaches, but glad to see it official.
Steely Dan Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Curtis Modkins Two years in the NFL as RB coach!! 1st Year NFL Coach • 1st with Chiefs Owning 13 years of collegiate coaching experience, Curtis Modkins embarks on his initial campaign as Kansas City’s running backs coach in 2008. Prior to joining the Chiefs coaching staff, Modkins spent six seasons tutoring both the running backs (2003-07) and the defensive backs (2002) under Chiefs offensive coordinator Chan Gailey at Georgia Tech. Georgia Tech’s rushing attack thrived under the tutelage of Modkins as the Yellow Jackets led the Atlantic Coast Conference in rushing offense in 2007, totaling 2,591 yards (199.3 ypg.) and 28 rushing TDs. Georgia Tech boasted the ACC’s leading rusher three times (2003, 2006-07) during Modkins’ tenure as running backs coach. Modkins also played a pivotal role in the development of two-time All-ACC RB T.J. Daniels, a former walk-on who concluded his career as the fourth-leading rusher in Georgia Tech history. http://www.wgr550.com/BUSCAGLIA--Curtis-Modkins-/6188497 In 1998, Modkins left the comfy confines of his alma mater and ventured on to a new school. New Mexico named him the cornerbacks coach. A position that he would assume for the next four seasons. That is, until Chan Gailey came calling. Gailey extended his hand out to Modkins. And it's been a duo that hasn't been split up. Every year that Gailey has been a coach somewhere, Modkins has been right there along side him. ___________________________ The Arizona Cardinals needed a new running backs coach, and scooped up the services of Modkins. In his only season as running backs coach for the Cardinals, the team averaged just 93.4 yards per game on the ground. That is the fifth worst total in 2009.
bills_fan Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Solid hire in Joe D’Alessandris. I figured he'd be one of the coaches, but glad to see it official. Any info on him? His style, the way he teaches etc.? IMHO, he will be one of the most important hires.
lets_go_bills Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 The hiring of Kansas City staff does not exactly instill confidence in me for this team going forward.
DanInUticaTampa Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Curtis Modkins Two years in the NFL as RB coach!! He is going to be OC in name only. The offense is going to be run/called by Gaily.
Lori Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 If you read the first post, the OC is mentioned in it. There is no DC yet. The other coaches are positional coaches. Just thinking out loud ... Parse this sentence: Gailey also elected to keep two of the most veteran assistants from the Bills previous coaching staff as George Catavolos will remain as secondary coach and Bob Sanders will also continue to serve on the defensive side of the ball. Mentions that Catavolos will keep the same position, but does NOT do the same for Sanders, who has also had previous experience as a DC (three years with the Packers). Hmmmm.
Steely Dan Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 The hiring of Kansas City staff does not exactly instill confidence in me for this team going forward. I hear that.
Fewell733 Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Any info on him? His style, the way he teaches etc.? IMHO, he will be one of the most important hires. seconded. is it gonna be a zone or power scheme? anyone know?

Parse this sentence: Mentions that Catavolos will keep the same position, but does NOT do the same for Sanders, who has also had previous experience as a DC (three years with the Packers). Hmmmm. I was thinking that was wierd too. They mention specifically what each coach's position, except for him. So that seems suspicious.
Lori Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 I was thinking that was wierd too. They mention specifically what each coach's position, except for him. So that seems suspicious. Could just mean that Gailey hasn't settled on exactly where he wants Sanders -- after all, I'm pretty sure he's coached each segment of the D at some point in his long career. On the other hand ... hmmmm.
