Alaska Darin
Maybe you should let your boy defend his own statements. I thought you attacked stupidity whenever you see it. I guess you're more selective than you think. 131007 My "boy"? That's a racist term in itself. I'm sure you know that. I don't see a statement of his that needs to be defended or attacked. _BiB_
Man, you said a mouthful there! 131034 Well, I'll take that to mean you are somewhat grateful to have adults looking out for your welfare, so you can embrace your obviously well thought out perceptions of your fellow man not to mention your open minded ideology. As for needing to jump into the conversation: It's a message board. I don't need a reason.

Wham Rocks
Excuse us all while we Google so we can say "Yes". 131106 There was a time when those terms were measuring sticks for how many civil liberties you recieved. And on top of that, octoroon is a funny word. I bet that guy from House Party with the crazy hair-do is one.
DC Tom
Well, that too. Note that the main reason the SA was purged was not Ernst Rohm's homosexuality or even the Army's distrust for them. No, the SA was purged because their ranks were "racially impure" whereas the SS was to be a teutonic order, pure in every way. 130338 No, the main reason they were purged is because they got too big for their britches. The racial philosophy and politics of the Nazi party was dangerous BS...but it was fundamentally BS. The real motivations behind the party politics were almost universally about power, not race. The SA simply became too powerful an arm to be tolerated, particularly by the Wehrmacht...so Hitler bought the Army's acceptance of Nazi rule by doing away with the SA. DC Tom
You're the one who made this a black/white issue. Personally, I don't give a flying !@#$ what you listen to or what you think of rap music. My issue is with the parallels you're clearly drawing between the hateful Nazi skinhead youth of today and the black community. There's a HUGE difference here. 130880 No...he said gangsta rap isn't music. You're the one that turned it into a racial statement. He's reading up on the Gay rights agenda now for the next onslaught. I can go from Racist to Homophobe. (sigh) Life was so much simpler when I was just a neocon baby killer. Johnny Coli
To just get back on topic, a lot of the stuff pushed onto people as "gansta rap" is a result of marketing. It pretty much all sounds the same, because that is what sells...no shocker there, that's music. For the most part it's just chest-beating crap, written by guys who grew up in suburbia. The early gansta rap was pretty groundbreaking stuff because it spoke about how life was in some of the worst areas to live in america. That NWA-Straight out of Compton record is a brilliant, powerful piece of expression. You don't have to enjoy the music, but you have to appreciate the brutal honesty of it. There is no other record like it in this genre, all else pales in comparison, and just about everything else in the genre is crap/fantasy/cartoonish. As for the white supremacist "music," no one takes this stuff seriously, and the punk/hardcore movement goes out of it's way to distance itself from these idiots. This is KzooMike bigoty, and there are very, very few venues where this type of music is tolerated.

That's just my musical bigotry showing, though...I'm just old-school when it comes to music, in thinking it should have harmony in addition to rhythm. blzrul
With all this opining of what is and isn't racist, I wonder if we even HAVE a person of color on this board who could set us all straight? We may have opinions on gansta rap and racist music but I can pretty much guar-an-tee that there's a whole other paradigm out there that most of us can never see because we can never go there.
