billsfan714
OK, folks, who did Bill Cowher suggest to the Rooney family to succeed him as Steelers HC? Chan Gailey. If you believe that there was never a chance in hell the Cowher would coach the Bills, who would be the next best guy to hire? Hmmmm, how about Cowher's choice? Ummm, Chan Gailey. I'm pretty happy with the hire of Gailey. An offensive minded guy. Winning record as HC of Dallas, with 1 playoff game in 2 years. And probably cost effective enough to give Chuck Lester a nice raise. What? Chuck is gone?!? Oh well. Yeah and the Rooney family said no Chan and won a superbowl with their own choice. BobChalmers
Fire Gailey he is a horrid hire. We could have Marty Ball building this team instead we went for a 5th tier retread who hasn't accomplished much since a semi-successful run with the Steelers. Think about it would Gailey have gotten a interview for a HC job anywhere else. Here is a clue its not because we are such a smart organization, the rest of the league knows what our fans know Gailey is a cheap hire and not the best man the job (Esp considering Marty Ball was reported to be interested and if that's not true Frazier was available. I believe this places you squarely in Scott Pioli's 'fans are too stupid to understand Gailey would be a great hire so I'll go with a young Pat's staffer' category. Thanks for proving the former Patriots GM right yet again.
Tasmo
Winning will be the elixir that will bring everyone around. It is a pretty simple equation winning = brilliant decision losing = stupid idea that will alienate the fan base. The man gets respect from Reeves and Cowher, is on the same page as the GM, knows his players, and wins. As the smoke settles around this whole thing I am really liking this. Keep dumping the dead weight in this organization and start new baby! Screw the media that blab blab blab BS about Buffalo and next year could be a pass, but the transition will bear fruit. Large playoff sized fruit.
CodeMonkey
Winning record as HC of Dallas, with 1 playoff game in 2 years. I'm all for giving Chan a chance. But factually: Winning record as HC of Dallas, yes, .563 ... not exactly awe inspiring. And he actually had 1 playoff game each year with Dallas. Even with a 8-8 second season. Lost them both.
