When Buddy Nix was hired, I did a little bit of research on him through the magic of google. I knew he was part of the Polian/Butler/Smith tree. I figured that this was as close to Polian as we ever were going to get. OK. So far so good. I was hoping that his ties with Marty would still be there. When that didn't work out, I figured that a 71 year old GM might only get one shot at this thing, so he is obviously going to go with someone he is comfortable with. Buddy was a coach at Tennessee Chatanooga, and as a scout spent most of his time in the south east. He stated from the beginning that he wanted an offensive coach with NFL head coaching experience. I think his pick was Gailey all along, since the two of them go way back.

The marketing genius knew that even STUPID NATION wouldn't stand for this, so he made Buddy wait and floated all these rumors about Ralph being willing to spend money, wanting to bring a big name here. Then things got a little haywire when the names that were floated turned and said that they weren't interested in interviewing. So, with egg all over their faces, they come out and hire Chan.
