Indy Dave
Dwight Freeney Ed Reed Troy Polamalu Patrick Willis Ray Lewis Darrelle Revis Charles Woodson DeMarcus Ware Kevin Williams Nnamdi Asomugha Julius Peppers Adrian Wilson There, I just named a dozen players I like better than Jared Allen, including one defensive lineman on his own team. But he is a hell of a player. And there's no way you trade a marquee pass rusher in his prime, so you're absolutely right to ask the question. Then again, these are the Chiefs. Hell, we've beaten the Chiefs two years in a row.

Red Squirrel
Could it be....the 3 DUIs? And that after getting suspended for a couple games for this issue already, he might wind up getting half a season if it happens again? Not to mention what a judge might do to him if there's a 4th. San Jose Bills Fan
The answer is easy. The relationship between player and team was fouled. The Chiefs were rebuilding and knew it. They got a first round pick (Branden Albert) and 2 3rd round picks. It made sense for both teams.

Exactly, if he gets one more suspension he will be gone for an entire year, then next after that could get him permanently suspended. Granted Allen is an amazing talent, but playing on a losing team can make you want to drink more often then not I'd think. Both teams got a good deal from it IMO. /dev/null
Character issue and end of his contract at KC. That and he had no intention of signing back with KC. So they did the same thing we did with Jason Peters. Lost a talented player but at least got something via trade instead of nothing via Free Agency

/dev/null
What was Miami's excuse for letting Wes Welker leave? Because Miami sucks IIRC the year they traded Welker was 2007, when the Dolphins went 1-15 under Cam Cameron and drafted Ted ing Ginn. So they were mismanaged that season Plus Miami Sucks
