BillnutinHouston Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Casserly just reported this on the NFL Today. Stealth interview I guess. Casserly also reported that the Seahawks offered Dungy the President's job, but he turned it down. Casserly said if Dungy would have taken the job he was planning to hire Leslie Frazier as his HC.
billnutinphoenix Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 I guess we 1st wanted Cowher...nothing; Harbaugh....strike 2; now whose candidiate #3???
Sisyphean Bills Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Queue the "he sucks anyway" reactions in 3, 2, 1...
drewfla Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Beat me to it. No mention of Frazier except for the tidbit that when Dungy was considering Seattle GM job he wanted to hire Frazier as his head coach. He definitely seems to have the current momentum for our gig. I'm frankly hoping Grimm isn't interested.

So we offered the job to a College HC who has a losing record and his only real NFL Exp outside of being an average QB is a couple years as a QB coach? Holy **** Ralph, Russ and Nix have no damn clue
Kingfish Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Because we all know that no other coach has ever turned down a coaching offer from an NFL team. Let's just wallow in our own insecurities!
Coach Tuesday Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Ralph is such a pathetic mess of a human.
Warren Zevon Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Because we all know that no other coach has ever turned down a coaching offer from an NFL team. Let's just wallow in our own insecurities! But we do know no other team has been turned down by every single candidate except for one.
CardinalScotts Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 your not looking for the next tom osborne in the college ranks more a young motivated head coach. After todays showing I would tell Grimm we changed out mind. Welcome in Fraser
Gasjuggler Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 God I'am starting to get a inferiority complex. Jim Harbaugh said no. WTF
RayFinkle Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Because we all know that no other coach has ever turned down a coaching offer from an NFL team. Let's just wallow in our own insecurities! Really? It is common? Name 3 examples.
Sisyphean Bills Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Cool! Now, we can hire a really great coach.
Malazan Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 I'm sure this is true. It was just reported that they offered Weis the job, but he chose to go to KC instead. Maybe it was KFC...I don't know.
voodoo poonani Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 But we do know no other team has been turned down by every single candidate except for one. Is anyone willing to take this job? I'm hoping Frazier will take it if/when we offer the only person we interviewed.
Kingfish Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Really? It is common? Name 3 examples. Off the top of my head I know Parcells turned down Tampa Bay at least once, Jason Garrett has turned down a few teams recently, Cowher turned down the Jets and the Skins, and Belichick turned down the Jets. I'll see if I can find more. Apparently Pete Carroll turned down the Skins in 2008. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...9/SPT8UNQDO.DTL Not a HC but Scott Pioli declined to interview to become the NYG GM in 2007 http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nf...g-roundup_x.htm Scott Sarkisian turned down the Raiders before they hired Lane Kiffin http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...SPGUNNNBCD1.DTL No link but Sean Payton turned down the Raiders a few years ago. Mike Holmgren turned down Arizona and the Jets before becoming the GB HC. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...SPG9IH42CF1.DTL Gregg Williams declined to interview with Houston, KC, STL, and Minnesota in 2004 http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...6010300765.html
Malazan Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 It's funny how the collective intelligence just gets lower and lower around here. This is as true as Cowher being a done deal. Stop supporting the media making stuff up because they heard it from another reporter.
