Underdog Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 I'd like to know what you think is the funniest movie of all time. For me, it's Monty Python and the Holy Grail. If you've seen this comedic work of art and don't at least have it in your top three funniest movies of all time.... then throw a drinking fountain threw the barred windows of your looney bin and run like hell.
bartshan-83 Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 I pissed my pants the first time I saw that. Impossible to decide a #1 though...it would be up there. I might put Planes, Trains, and Automobiles on the short list as well.
ajzepp Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 The movies I laughed the hardest at over the years have been: Dumb and Dumber Jackass I&2 Borat I'm not saying these are the greatest comedies of all time, but these are the films that had me in tears the first time I watched them.
Hazed and Amuzed Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Depends on what kind of funny. Fletch, Groundhogs day and Tommy Boy if we're talking SNL alum movies. If you like a cheap laugh then Airplane and Naked Gun are great Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein and Holy Grail are the top of the list when it comes to satire. Windy City Heat is a hysterical unknown film. Kevin Smith pre Dogma also gets my vote.
buckeyemike Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Airplane. I don't know how many times I've seen it over the years, and I always know what's coming, but it still makes me laugh as hard as the first time I saw it. I don't really like Planes, Trains, and Automobiles for some reason, but it's one of my wife's favorite movies.

Captain Oveur: I can't tell. Rumack: You can tell me. I'm a doctor. Captain Oveur: No. I mean I'm just not sure. Rumack: Well, can't you take a guess? Captain Oveur: Well, not for another two hours. Rumack: You can't take a guess for another two hours? Naked Gun -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Frank: It's the same old story. Boy finds girl, boy loses girl, girl finds boy, boy forgets girl, boy remembers girl, girls dies in a tragic blimp accident over the Orange Bowl on New Year's Day. Jane: Goodyear? Simon Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 I was watching some of the Bad News Bears during game commercials yesterday and that movie had me lmao. It's been so long I forgot how good it was.
Frit0 Bandit0 Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Withnail & I, Kicking and Screaming (not the Will Ferrell movie), Strange Brew, High Fidelity, Big Lewbowski, cabin boy, Animal crackers, The Bank Dick The Big Labowski (forgot about that one, one of my favorites)
Hazed and Amuzed Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 The Big Labowski (forgot about that one, one of my favorites) I agree, I forgot about that one too. It's not only one of the funniest but it might be one of the best done comedies I've ever seen.
bbb Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 I'm glad so many have already picked Airplane!.........If I was doing a top three, I'd add There's Something about Mary, and 40 Year Old Virgin
DonInBuffalo Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 "funny" can be very subjective. Movies that some people find hilarious others might find "eh". For example, I thought The Hangover had a few amusing scenes, but overall it didn't do much for me. Used Cars is my favorite. The scene where they cut into the Presidential address is an absolute classic. Others that come to mind, not in any particular order: Animal House Neighbors (Belushi's last movie) Slap Shot Caddyshack Police Academy Porky's
Underdog Posted January 11, 2010 Author Posted January 11, 2010 These replies are really bringing back some good memories of the many comedies I've loved over the years. My favourites are comedies that are not only extremely funny but also have a unique charm. My incomplete list is currently: Monty Python-Holy Grail Monty Python-The Meaning of Life Monty Python-Life of Brian (python troupe are so funny they're life reaffirming) Dumb and Dumber (remarkably idiotic in such a good way) Blazing Saddles (too bad Mel Brooks still isn't making movies) Clerks 1 (Kevin Smith film shot on a budget of approx 10 grand makes me wonder if i could make one) Borat (unique mockumentary comedy)
