Smiley Dear Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 I'm as excited as anybody at the prospect of Bill Cower coaching the Bills, but if that doesn't happen and we start interviewing coordinators, I've heard Ron Rivera and Russ Grimm and Leslie Frazier mentioned. Why has Jason Garrett fallen off everyones radar? 2 years ago he was such a hot prospect that JJ gave home 3 mil a year to OC. After a down year in 2008, the Cowboys offence looks pretty impressive again this year. If we want an offensive minded coach, shouldn't he be high on our list or did I miss something?
Guest three3 Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 per rotoworld: Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett is reportedly a "sleeper" candidate to be the next Bills head coach. Garrett's stock is up after he led Dallas to a No. 2 overall ranking in total offense this regular season, then orchestrated a brilliant and unbeatable game plan versus Philadelphia on Saturday. Garrett was a finalist in the Rams' coaching search last year. He's currently the NFL's highest paid assistant. beats billick. beats frazier. beats haslett. an offensive mind is needed
BillsZubaz Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Jason Garrett is one of 2 coordinators off the top of my head that I would be quite pleased with. I wonder how much validity there is to this....
sullim4 Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 I would fully approve of Jason Garrett. My only concern with him would be his ability to motivate.
disco Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Funny that everyone was hoping Dallas would win to end the job for Cowher - but maybe we need them to lose to try and get Garrett. Garrett's stock a few years ago was so high we'd also have been laughed at for pursuing him. Perhaps now is the time.
Lockport Bills Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Schefter and Mort also said this on Countdown. But Schefter added that Cowher coaching the Bills is as likely as him coaching the Bills. Hilarious
silvermike Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Maybe Jerry will fire Wade and we can bring him round to be Garrett's DC.

sullim4 Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Pigs will fly before Wade works for Ralph agin.
Doc Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Pigs will fly before Wade works for Ralph agin. Wade is a great DC, and congrats on winning his first playoff game in 5 tries, but I cannot see him winning an NFCCG, much less a SB.
disco Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Garrett is listed on there web site as Assistant Head Coach. Yeah I remember they promoted him to AHC with some fat raise when he was THE hot coordinator. It actually might be really difficult to get him out of Dallas. Here's the article from 2008: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3200822
bkc Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 I would take him over frazier and the rest of the coordinators
CosmicBills Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 This would be an outstanding hire ... though, since he is the heir apparent to Wade in Dallas I doubt he would leave Dallas for anything less than a a monumental cash offer that would eclipse his "actual" worth. So I doubt it happens.
zow2 Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Always worries me when teams hire a coordinator to be coach based on one good playoffs. I think GArrett has a decent body of work though. Jerry has always liked him
NeverOutNick Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 I would take him over frazier and the rest of the coordinators I would like Brian Schottenheimer as well especially if he brought Marty with him as a coordinator. Also I just read this on Adam Schefter's twitter "I love Buffalo, tremendous fans, and don't mean to disappoint. But Bill Cowher will not wind up as the Bills coach this season. "
