timbuk3 Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 RT - Damian Woody - 1st Round pick. FA signing. LT - D’Brickashaw Ferguson - 1st round pick. Jets. LG - Alan Faneca - 1st round pick. FA signing. C - Nick Mangold - 1st round pick. Jets. RG - Brandon Moore - UFA Combined games together - 32 Don't even want to try to compare the Bills OL to this, but amazing an how good an OL can be when it is composed of high round draft picks instead of UFA's, late round picks and other team's cast-offs (such as the Bills usual mode of operation).

Working on it in Buffalo. Hope they can pull off a nice LT in the 1st this year and get Wood back or Incognito signed (or all 3). With the luck Mr. Wilson was talking about and the conditioning Buddy Nix was talking about + the coaching up of the young players they can get as good as the Jets.
Sisyphean Bills Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 The Jets also do not have a great QB. He may be great someday, but they cannot ask him to win games.
apuszczalowski Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 And if all but 2 of them got hurt this year and put on IR, and force to be replaced by street FA's cause the replacements keep getting hurt, you would have the Bills offesive line. Lets look at the Bills starting OLine from this season Butler - RT drafted by the Bills Wood - RG drafted in the first by the Bills Hangartner - UFA from Carolina Levitre - LG drafted by the Bills in the 2nd Bell - LT drafted by the Bills very late, but supposed to be very athletic and take some time to develop into a LT The biggest problem with the Bills o-line this year was that it was just so ravaged with injuries, as backups went down on IR and then even their replacements were put on IR. Improving the LT spot and getting some sort of machine that will protect players from injury and heal them quickly are about all thats needed to improve the o-line at this point, without giving them some time to get more experience. Next year if you keep the line the same and add in a rookie LT you will have 3 players on the line with 1 season or less in the NFL (LT, Wood, Levitre)
zonabb Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 The Jets also do not have a great QB. He may be great someday, but they cannot ask him to win games. Thanks. Some gets it! They built a team like you should... inside out. Start with the lines and you have the foundation. You draft a young QB and give him a decent so he can learn without getting killed and having his confidence destroyed. If he has decent skills players around him, he can manage the team and they can win in spite of his inexperience and often inconsistent play. He will be good, but the Jets are proof of how a team is built.

Hangartner is not a problem right now and is good enough, Wood can eventually move over if/when Hangartner leaves when his contract is up LT is definitly an area that needs improvement. Also, that Jets o-line wasn't built overnight and took years to get to where it is today, how many years have Mangold and Fergussen been in the league now?
timbuk3 Posted January 10, 2010 Author Posted January 10, 2010 The Jets also do not have a great QB. He may be great someday, but they cannot ask him to win games. But their running game could/can carry the team for now.
Sisyphean Bills Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 But their running game could/can carry the team for now. The key to having a good running game is having a good OL. You can't run the ball consistently with trash up front.
