Orton's Arm Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 It's more important to have a great QB than a great O-line, but that isn't the only consideration when it comes to drafting. The fact that you need a QB doesn't mean that one worthy of a high pick is available in the draft. If the Bills think that there is a franchise QB there for the taking, then great; but my one hope for the draft is that they don't delude themselves into thinking a guy is worthy of the #9 pick just because he's the top guy left at a position of need. I agree with this. A great QB behind a competent line will achieve more than a competent QB behind a great line. (See Dilfer of the Ravens--who played behind Ogden at LT--as an example of the latter situation.) I also agree that one shouldn't reach for a player based on need. The strategy of honing in on one specific position got us Donte Whitner, John McCargo, etc.
dave mcbride Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Sure he'll be available at #9And Suh will be there for us in the 2nd And McClain in the 3rd The rest of the world doesn't have the same inside information as TSW The fact that he won't be available at 9 is kind of the point of both my post and the one that followed.
dave mcbride Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 "Clausen is the real deal." so was Brady Quinn. Why would you compare the two other than for the fact that they both went to ND? Clausen has a better arm and is far more accurate. They really aren't comparable at all.
