Fezmid Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 I agree. I can't comment on Nickelback since I have never heard one of their songs. I stopped listening to FM radio for new music about a decade ago. I can GUARANTEE, with 100% certainty, that you've heard at least one of their songs. I think one of the reasons people dislike them so much is that they're a marketing machine. Their music is literally everyone -- commercials, teasers, before/after sporting event commercials, video games, etc, etc. I was playing NHL 10 and one of their songs plays in the background! Chad Kroeger is a business genious, albeit not a great musician.
Jim in Anchorage Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Pfft, that's not cold. I woke up to -18F today... (yeah, I know, I'm making you feel better about where you live Jim ) http://www.weather.com/weather/local/54016...archbox_localwx Just one more gorgeous sunny +20 day in beautiful Anchorage. Just 3 months left of winter my weather is better than yours
DC Tom Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 I agree. I can't comment on Nickelback since I have never heard one of their songs. I stopped listening to FM radio for new music about a decade ago. But if you've heard one of their songs, you've heard all of them.

SageAgainstTheMachine Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Obviously, nobody's even heard of the worst band ever. Probably some tone-deaf kids playing in a garage somewhere in Wisconsin or something like that
thebug Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Obviously, nobody's even heard of the worst band ever. Probably some tone-deaf kids playing in a garage somewhere in Wisconsin or something like that Trust me, it was in Canada, and I was in it.
KD in CA Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 I would like to submit for your consideration, the work of "The Blackeyed Peas" Almost the exact same as No Doubt, just swap Gwen for Fergie. Horrible music... +1 That stupid song they've been playing recently on the radio is one of the worst I've heard in years.
Lt. Dan's Revenge Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Trust me, it was in Canada, and I was in it. I love the honesty.
Rico Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Hootie and The Blowfish, Kid Rock, and Dave Mathews Band You can put these acts on the fire pile, please. We have a winner.
Pine Barrens Mafia Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Nickelback and Loverboy are both Canadian. Coincidence? I think not So's Bryan Adams. Canadian music = teh suck (with the exception of Neil Young)
Delete This Account Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 So's Bryan Adams. Canadian music = teh suck (with the exception of Neil Young) well, not entirely, though i won't lay claim to saying Canada has produced a large amount of great musical artists -- though how we got the U.S. to adopt celine dion might say more about America than the Great White North that said, aside from Neil, there are a few notables that require mention: Joni Mitchell, Robbie Robertson and The Tragically Hip, a band that's flown under the radar, and has produced some compelling music that, in my opinion, stands up as well as some of the early U2 and REM stuff. that said, Canada has also produced loverboy, so take it for what it's worth. (and yes, i'm not including Rush on either side of the list, because, well, they were ok while i was growing up and then not so much.) jw
WellDressed Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Those nicklebacks sound like all AWB's (not THE) stuck in oaklahoma sucking on a tumbleweed.

You Black Emperor, Silver Mt Zion, Japandroids, the Sadies, the Dears, New Pornographers, Arcade Fire, Holy !@#$, Constantines, Besnard Lakes.....list goes on. Lots of amazing bands. Toronto and Montreal have some of the best, and most organized, musical scenes going. And that, my friends, is called being a music nerd
Mr. Dink Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Nickleback is the worst band I have ever heard in my life. That is not hyperbole- it is the absolute truth! I would rather listen to a dentist drill then nickelback Funny you should say that. When I was having my wisdom teeth removed the dentist performing the procedure was playing Nickelback. What an experience.
el Tigre Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 The first thing I thought of was the video where Vince was knocking over the columns. Pure genius, enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XftBt1WLKSo AWESOME!! So bad it's good!

Toronto and Montreal have some of the best, and most organized, musical scenes going. And that, my friends, is called being a music nerd Godspeed, Sliver Mt. Zion, and Arcade Fire are three of my favorite bands of all time and the whole Constellation Records label is full over forward minded indie bands. I know their music isn't for everybody, but I find it inspirational to make music myself and to pursue bands with similar sounds. Vic Chesnutt, who joined the label in 2007 after spending 17 years in Athens, Ga, committed suicide on x-mas eve. I highly suggest his album North Star Deserter. One of the better "offshoot" bands featuring members of Broken Social Scene is Metric. I saw them play a set here in Philly with just the lead singer and the lead guitarist in a lounge, candlelit setting and it was jaw dropping. Plus Emily Haines is super hot for an indie chick.
