Hazed and Amuzed Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Me and my 9 year old boy bought an iguana last year. My boy named him Dr. Nub's AND I live in SoFla. Needless to say the good Doc has been spending the last couple of days inside.
Wacka Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 I was out geocaching once and about 4 feet off the ground in a tree, I saw a mummified iguana. it wasn't as big as what was in the link, but it wasn't one of those small lizards we have running all around here. This was in the spring. Maybe it froze t death, but didn't fall out of the tree.
dib Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 I have an orange (yes orange) Iguana on the golf course behind my house. He's 5 feet if he's an inch. Wonder if he made it through the cold.
The Poojer Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 holy crap! that isn't an iguana, its an orange alligator...5 feet??????????? I have an orange (yes orange) Iguana on the golf course behind my house. He's 5 feet if he's an inch. Wonder if he made it through the cold.
dib Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 He (it?) was so big I photographed him (it). I figure it's a male in his mating 'plummage'.
Nanker Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 I thought the reporter said, "The non-Iguanas were introduced by 'careless pet owners', and have quickly become one of Florida's most 'endangered species'." WTF!!! However, upon further review, he said "one of Florida's most invasive species." I wonder if they taste like chicken.
The Poojer Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 I wish I was in Tijuana....eating barbecued Iguana..... I thought the reporter said, "The non-Iguanas were introduced by 'careless pet owners', and have quickly become one of Florida's most 'endangered species'." WTF!!! However, upon further review, he said "one of Florida's most invasive species." I wonder if they taste like chicken.
The Poojer Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 "...lovely plumage...." I would love to see a picture of it if you can ever post it.. He (it?) was so big I photographed him (it). I figure it's a male in his mating 'plummage'.
dib Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 "...lovely plumage...." I would love to see a picture of it if you can ever post it.. I'll try and see what I can do later.
HopsGuy Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 "...lovely plumage...." I would love to see a picture of it if you can ever post it.. I saw a few of those orange ones when I lived down there. I took a picture of one at a golf course with my old camera phone. The quality was so bad it's not worth uploading, but I would say that Dave's description is apt. Lots of interesting sights down there in South FL.
Wacka Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 "...lovely plumage...." I would love to see a picture of it if you can ever post it.. "It's pining for the fiords..."
