So, seems like a lot of coaches who normally would have been let go are being kept. Maybe I am reading to0 much into this, but I think most owners are thinking.."no way I am paying two guys in 2011 when we most likely will not even be playing!! "

I mean Mangini, Fox, Morris, Smith..all guys I think would have been fired if Cowher wanted in and owners expected to play in 2011.

Any thoughts?

There might be something to what you're saying, but I think the economy in general is a huge factor. Tampa's bottom line probably looked a lot worse than they're used to over the last year or two, which is one of the reasons they hired Morris in the first place (way too inexperienced = cheap), and why they're keeping him now.

Nobody expects any labor dispute to last the entire season. Worst case scenario is a 10-12 game season in 2011. If that happens every team is going to need a coach. The thought of not having a head coach going into 2011 is ridiculous.

I wonder at the end of the 2010 season if teams would fire their coach if desired, but not hire a new one until CBA is settled? They could all agree to it as a group. Can't claim collusion as no union involved with the coaches.
