question about vegas

Okay, as some of you probably know, I usually go to Vegas for Super Bowl. I usually go with my father-in-law & some friends & we since my FIL gets comped we always stay at harrahs. We always hang out at the sports book there. it is not the greatest, but it is good enough & serves our purpose. This year, my father in law is not going due to him having recent surgery. Four of my friends & I are going & we are staying at MGM. My question, what sports book is a good one to go to. I have been to Vegas a bunch of times but I usually end up the majority the time at harrahs since everything was comped thru my father in law. Also, at Harrahs, I would put about 5 bets in at a time usually between $50 - $100 & tip the guy a few bucks & he would give me 4-5 drink tickets. With the way my friends & I drink & since I will not be getting comped thru my father in law on this trip, it is essential that the sports book gives you drink tickets when you put your bets in. Any suggestions would be apreciated.

i lived in las vegas untill just last year. I have never been to any sports book that didnt give you at least 1 drink ticket for every bet you place. sometimes the guy working the counter might "forget" but all you have to do is ask. and it is vegas, so tips do go along way just dont be afraid to ask for a couple more. as far as the best ones it kinda depends what kind of atmosphere you are looking for. i always prefered the casinos off the strip. i really enjoyed the red rock sports book, but this can be costly to get to if your taking a taxi or something. if you do want to stay by the strip most of the sports books are about the same, mgm has a really nice one, however if your looking for a fun time try going up to downtown, everything is cheaper (beers, table game min bets etc...) the atmosphere is great, and you get to experience the "old las vegas" hope this helps

Thank. Yeah I was pretty sure they all gave you free drink tickets but like I said I usually only went to harrah's so I thought i would ask. Probably just stay at the MGM if they have a nice one. Maybe because I only go there once a year but I prefer the strip, not really crazy about the old downtown area. I could see if you were a local though, the strip would probably get tiresome & would be the last place you would want to be.

I came home last night from the bar after watching the Bama/Texas game. Let's just say I had a few pops in me & wouldn't you know it my wife was still up. She starts telling me how she really wants to go to Vegas too & wants to go with me & my friends. Being in the buzzed up state that I was in & being in a good mood since I had $100 on Bama, I seriously started to consider it. Luckily I passed out before I shot the words out that she could go. This morning, having a more clearer head, she asked me again & I said what any loving , caring husband would tell their wife in a similar situation. I said "what are you out of your f*cking mind?!??" My friends would of never forgave me.

Back on topic here, Mandalay Bay has the best book and atmosphere in my opinion. I think there is a new one at Venetian that is supposed to be nice with good food, by Emeril I think. I'd also check out Aria since it is brand new.

Emerils place is cool, I was there late October. Only stopped in for a drink to see it, so can't give an opinion on the food etc.

I also prefer the Madalay to stay, as I think at night the casino is not as crowded as some of the other hotels. Love the book, but the poker room is pretty weak compared to many others now
