Conch Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Look at what he has done. A very dismal season ends, the entire coaching staff is fired not at the end of the season but starting the week before the season began before being completely swept out after the last game, our top draft pick hardly plays, our second first round pick is crippled, our no 1 RB is beaten by a journeyman, TO is going, there are few bright spots on the horizon and not one post is complaining about the horrendous product he handed us this year. Every post is about the cat and mouse games being played for head coach or the recent hiring of Buddy Nix or April's draft. Actually from the end of the season until draft day is, in truth, our Bills Season because we haven't had a professional team play here for almost 10 years. Hats off to Russ for deflecting our attention away from Buffalo Bills Football to post season nonsense! And the NFL playoffs haven't even started! Truly remarkable accomplishment. And we eat it up.
Beastly Dareus Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Awesome... we would have this problem right now if they didn't resign Jauron to a extension last season
CarolinaBill Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Well, there's really no point in complaining about what is already done. We are better off looking forward to the future and speculating on what may be, rather than rehash the past. On the other hand, U are right about some of the personnel stuff. but byrd isnt crippled, just needs some mending, TO leaving isnt a bad thing, and there are some bright spots on this team IMO. The offseason just started, its time to guess, and argue about the future.
timba Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 They're taking all the steps necessary to put the team on the right track. Yes it was a horrible season, and the topic was beaten to death as the season went on. Lets look to a potentially brighter future and forget this last decade of football shenanigans.
MattyT Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Define "eating it up." I mean... we're all sitting here waiting for big changes to take place...the next regime. Eating it up would be to be happy with the status quo. We got complaining about this year's team pretty much out of our system months ago...where've you been?

bluenews Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Should we organize a TBD Aaron Schoebel Retirement Party?
PushthePile Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 A monkey could do Russ Brandon's job. Nobody needs to sell the Bills to us, we've been eating crap for years and still beg for more. Why? Who the hell knows, but I'm starving.
ndirish1978 Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Being a Bills fan=being an abusive relationship We whine and complain, but when it comes time to leave, we make excuses for Ralph and go back to the team in the end.
Over 29 years of fanhood Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 A monkey could do Russ Brandon's job. Nobody needs to sell the Bills to us, we've been eating crap for years and still beg for more. Why? Who the hell knows, but I'm starving. You sir have hit the nail on the head. There is something about becoming a true Buffalo Bills fan that forces us to always come back for more. Teams like the Bills, and also for example the Packers and Browns, could literally spend $0 on marketing and continue filling seats.

As much as having the words "marketing whiz" and "Russ Brandon" in the same sentence, anyone who can sell the Toronto-fiasco as a "good thing", deliver a terrible team year after year but do signings like Mitchell, Stroud, and TO to hide the fact that the Bills still had no chance... well, I agree he must be doing something right if the Bills are setting season ticket records in the midst of all that...

Brandon is very good at his job and a valuable asset to the Bills.

Hey Russ quit padding yourself with a fictitious post. You thought extending Jauron was a good idea and gave us another year of Dickball.

It really is not Brandon's marketing it is more like a hardening that is acquired from being a Bills fan. Dismal season? - Do you remember the 1-13 seasons, the 2-12 season or how about the back-to-back 2and 14s. Now those season were dismal. So were many others. Top draft pick not playing? - See Eric Flowers, Booker Moore, Tony Hunter, Tom Cousineau, Tom Rudd, etc. ?? Second number one pick crippled? - All indications are he will be back next season. Starting RB beaten out by a journeyman? - Were the Pats fans sad when Brady (round 6) beat out Bledsoe (#1 overall)? TO going? - Maybe, and so what? Few Bright Spots? There are several bright spots. Lets start with Byrd, Levitre, Wood, and Nelson from the last draft. Add to that Jauron is gone and we finally have a GM to handle footbal decisions. Finally, he team is still in Buffalo. Now ... back to the next coaching staff, the draft, and free agency. We have a dynasty to build.
BillsNYC Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 People call Brandon a Marketing genius, which he is not. He's the monorail salesman in that Simpsons episode. Bills fans are filling the seats because they're nervous about losing the team, Brandon unfairly gets credit for that.
PushthePile Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 To an extent, I agree. But could a monkey steal $78 million dollars from Toronto and show once and for all they aren't a legit NFL market? Brandon is very good at his job and a valuable asset to the Bills. To a certain extent the Toronto deal proved that Buffalo might not be a legit NFL market anymore. Eitherway, Toronto talks have been around a lot longer than Brandon. He may be good at his job but genius is a little strong. Bills fans have more than proven they will show support, regardless of what a marketing guy does. Russ just gives us something to talk about.
BillsfaninFl Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Being a Bills fan=being an abusive relationship We whine and complain, but when it comes time to leave, we make excuses for Ralph and go back to the team in the end. I believe the term is masochistic.
