South Jersey Bills Fan Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 They couldn't beat Carolina today. They couldn't beat Tampa Bay today. The Jets win was a complete fluke. It's incredible. With or without the injuries, there is no area where this team has improved. Even special teams has regressed. The Charlie Weiss rumors scare me. I'd think he'd be great for coordinator, but NOT HC.

Because there are about 7 good teams in the NFL and the rest suck as bad as we do.
Thoner7 Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 I said that yesterday as well. We only beat KC because Chris Chambers likes dropping TD passes too. As bad as this team is and as bad as our record is we are going to finish 6-10 by beating the Colts backups. This teams has horribly over achieved this season and IMO only Detroit and St Louis are as bad or worse than the Bills. And saying that is conservative IMO, as Detroit is better than us.

I think you are overly optimistic about next week's game. Remember, they couldn't beat Steelers backups when the playoffs were on the line. I don't see a lot of difference between this team and that one...oh wait, that team was better.
SDS Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 because we didn't have 20 players on the IR to start the year.

I don't see a lot of difference between this team and that one...oh wait, that team was better. Just because people keep saying that Pittsburgh had their backups in, doesn't make it true. They had their entire starting OL playing. The "backup" HB was Willie Parker, who turned out to be pretty darn good. They also had some defensive starters playing. They didn't really rest very many players in that game. because we didn't have 20 players on the IR to start the year. Ding ding ding, we have a winner. Our OL didn't even look half bad to start the season - until they all started dropping like flies, and then their backups started dropping like flies. We had a safety playing LB for a good chunk of the season! Injuries killed the team.

From the beginning of the F.A. period through training camp many of us here were screaming about the FO not bringing in O-lineman and linebacker depth. If the average fan can see it...

Just because you want to bring in depth, doesn't mean there's much out there that would help the team. During the season, we were bringing in practice squad guys - that tells me that there wasn't a lot of quality out there.

We brought in a lot of linebackers during FA, but for whatever reason, didn't sign any.
lvbillzfan Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 EXCUSES - EXCUSES - EXCUSES !!! That's all we do. Injuries, dropped passes, guys playing different positions, poor coaching, poor line play .... We have a TERRIBLE organization from the owner to the GM to the head coach to the coordinators. How can we expect to see good football on Sundays. It can't happen. In fact it is impossible. Get ready to see this continue as Shannahan, Holmgren, Cowher and the rest see our situation and run away as fast as they can.
evilbuffalobob Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Because they let the 5 others that they SHOULD have won get away due to poor coaching and lack of motivation (which circles the wagon back to bad coaching).
Thunderstealer Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 They were one brain fart away from beating New England. Hard to believe.

So the win over Miami was the only legitimate victory?
Max997 Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Tampa was awful when the Bills played them Jets - 5 interceptions Miami outcoached themselves and in reality isnt that good Carolina - Jake Delhomme Kansas City is terrible
Mark Vader Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Tampa was awful when the Bills played themJets - 5 interceptions Miami outcoached themselves and in reality isnt that good Carolina - Jake Delhomme Kansas City is terrible Tampa is still awful, they just got a couple more wins, but they're still awful.
Heels20X6 Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Tampa is still awful, they just got a couple more wins, but they're still awful. Try telling me that Tampa isn't going in the right direction and Buffalo is... At least they've managed to find their QB of the future in Freeman....
BillsfaninFl Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 So the win over Miami was the only legitimate victory? While Miami thought they had an easy win against Buffalo and were looking ahead to the New England game, the Bills still had to play one of their better games to win it, and they did. The other wins were fairly ugly, along with most of the losses. The Bills (in game one) caught Tom Brady trying to get back to being himself. It was the best time to play them and it almost became a stolen win. The stats looked good after the Tampa Bay game because that team and their rookie head coach were still disorganized (and would remain so for a couple more months). Sorry to repeat myself, but I am convinced that the Bills' players would be playing a lot better if they had decent coaching. The few comments we have heard from opposing players and coaches the last couple of years have implied that the Bills playbook is easy to succeed against, we have lost at least a couple of games each year from bad in-game coaching decisions and the development of players (especially quarterbacks) has been nonexistent. Certainly, injuries have been a factor, but I do not agree with those who say it has just been bad luck. Four years of record major injuries is not an abberation, it is a trend, and once again the staff must bear some responsibility.
Max997 Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Tampa is still awful, they just got a couple more wins, but they're still awful. they are still a bad team but i wouldnt call them awful at this point....their defense has been playing much better since they canned Jim Bates and although Freeman has struggled at times he has also looked good at others and their running game is improved as well....not to mention the Bills faced Leftwich who put up stats but is terrible Tampa has improved since week 2....the Bills, not so much
Sisyphean Bills Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 The trouble with the injury thing is that bad players missing plays can lead to injuries. Being out of position and reaching, going half-assed, missing a block that gets someone killed, being thrown like a rag doll into someone else's feet, missed tackles and taking the wrong gap responsibility that force the small safety players to make all the tackles and take on pulling guards that outweigh them by double the mass ... these sorts of bad plays by bad players lead to injuries which lead to more bad players making bad plays. The Bills could have spent money to bring in better players. The accountants didn't want to do it. Instead they went with UDFAs and special teams players and played half the season with 2 linebackers on the field.
CodeMonkey Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 How do the Bills have 5 wins? The AFC east sucks balls.
