CodeMonkey Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Exactly. John Murphy, Mark Kelso and Chris Brown (buffalobills.com guy) were just here in Atlanta for a Q&A session, and they were adamant that Vick is not the QB that he was years ago, and he never was a good passer. They said the Bills would not be pursuing him. Next year's free agent QB list: Kyle Orton Chad Pennington Jason Campbell Tarvaris Jackson Kellen Clemens Charlie Batch Kyle Boller David Carr Brodie Croyle Daunte Culpepper Rex Grossman Joey Harrington Jon Kitna Matt Moore – Restricted FA Chris Redman Brett Ratliff – Exclusive Rights FA Troy Smith – Restricted FA I would take a flier on Brohm over any of the ones in that list and hope for the best.
bkc Posted December 29, 2009 Author Posted December 29, 2009 The biggest issue with our O-line is injuries. G-C-G should be set for quite a while once Wood comes back from his leg injury....and McKinney and Incognito should provide solid depthThe questions are the T spots. Bell's struggled mightily this year when he's actually been healthy. Can he be good? questionable at best. How's Butler going to be when he comes back? He barely got any time at RT before his injury. As far as depth...Scott seems to be the best of a poor lot and he actually quit in a game according to an interview he gave. Meredith might develop and Chambers...outplayed Peters in 2008 but slumped off big time just over the offseason. Went from starting at LG until Levitre was ready to getting cut and was only brought back after Walker was released. That leaves us two tackles short

He got a royal screw job in Minnesota, he wont be back there next year, and hes got something to prove. Hes got a good arm and can scramble if need be.
billsfan89 Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Here is a little trivia question since 2001 who are the only 2 QB's to win the AFC East? The answer is Tom Brady and Chad Pennington. And Pennington did it with 2 different teams to boot. Does Pennington have a huge injury issue yes. BUT that is the reason he is going to be available and if anyone knows how to comeback from an injury its Chad Pennington. Pennington is a professional QB who has played in this division all of his career. Vick is a guy who hasn't started in the NFL in 4 years. 3 years dealing with prison and legal issues and another playing very little in Philly. So you want a guy who even at his best had accuracy issues (Something that has been proven you can't fix) and is now 4 years removed from starting in the NFL? Over a guy who when healthy is a top 16 QB in the NFL and has won this division twice? Pennington also seems like he can be a great mentor to a guy like Brian Brohm. Sign Pennington as a 1 year stop gap and draft a top flight LT to help get the O-Line in order. Pennington as a 1 year guy is a perfect for this situation. If we draft a LT round 1 and get back Wood and Butler from injury to join Hangartner and Levitre then the offensive line isn't looking too bad. And like Miami we would have 2 very good running backs in Lynch and Jackson. Now if we can add a new hard nose coach and some veteran defenders we might just have a chance to do a very interesting turnaround.

Orton's Arm Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 how does Jp losman had the same skill set as vick / Jp can throw a great deep ball and that is it . Like I said Vick was over rated at the time but to compare him to jp is nuts . I agree that Losman and Vick don't have the same skill set. As you pointed out, Losman can throw a great deep ball. Vick can't even do that: he's inaccurate at any distance. He has great physical attributes though.
