Major rebuilding project ahead for the Bills

What we need is to get the behind the scenes people (President, General Manager and scouts) as well as our coaching staff set as quickly as possible- we have no idea what we want to do personnel-wise until that is accomplished.

Do we want a power based attack? If so, Jason Campbell may be available, and he is the downfield-type QB that can complement the running game. In this cane, we need to determine the run-blocking scheme (man or zone) and find the OLs that fit the scheme. Lee Evans would be the downfield threat, but would need a compliment. Not sure Nelson is the top choise in this type of attack. Lynch is the obvious #1 featre back in this case, but we would need a fullback.

Do we want the in-vouge short passing game? In this case, Campbell is not a fit, but we need to find someone like Edwards, who is ready to get rid of the ball as soon as he completes his drop. Evans should move to the slot. Hardy may become one of our workhorses either in the slot of outside-likely in the slot). We likely need one WR who will catch about 10 passes per game. Pass blocking OLs who have the mobility to get out on screens are of utmost importance. Lynch becomes the fullback and Jackson could see time in the slot.

Same stuff for defense- what schemes and formations are we looking for? It has a major impact on talent aquisition

Lynch is the same dumbass thug in any scheme

Fred Jackson is your starter

Easy fix

Free Agency: Ray Edwards DE, Johnny Jolly DT, Vince Jackson WR

Draft: 1. LT, 2. RT, 3-7 LB, LB, LB, LB

Acquiring Edwards, Jolly, and Jackson will require untold draft picks when each are tendered for at least a 2nd, if not a 1st. They will be RESTRICTED FREE AGENTS as a result of 2010 BEING UNCAPPED.

MIA, BAL, and ATL have gone from bad to being a playoff team in one season. Only problem is, all of them had/have extremely talented football men like Parcells/Ireland, Ozzie Newsome, and Tom Dimitroff running their football operations. And each of those teams had owners who delegated the responsibility and authority to make football decisions regardless of a bean counter.

Only if those things happen, can this team have a shot at rebuilding quickly and correctly.

my plan if i was GM:

QB: keep brohm and sign Jeff Garcia and maybe vick. Shove trent in a box and ship him back to california ASAP

RB: same

WR: evans, Steve Johnson, re-sign reed, hardy and a couple depth guys

LT: 1st draft pick (and actually pick someone that is competent)

LG: Levitre

C: Wood

RG: Incognito ( I love dirty players if there on our team)

RT: Butler, 3rd round pick, and best free agent available. open competition for starter

* keep hangartner as backup and them other clowns like bell, meridith for depth

Defense switch to a 3-4

LE: Free agent best available

NT: Stroud and Free Agent

RE: Schobel (if he retires Free agent and Draft Pick)

ROLB: Maybin and anyone else i could find cause i highly doubt that moron would be able to handle it

RILB: POZ

LILB: Michell

ROLB: 2nd Round pick in Draft (again someone competent not an idiot like maybin)

CB: Mcgee/ Mckelvin keep all the guys we got now Florence and others

S: Byrd/Wilson

on the block: Id dump whitner and his high salary for doing little to anyone i could and hope to get a 5th rd pick. No ones safe would dump anyone for the right price.

Coach: Im looking for an offensive guy cause im sick of watching terrible offense. Best oc coordinator available looking to be a head coach. None of the big names are gonna come here just aint gonna happen. If lovie smith gets canned i would do what i could to get him as DC

Firing Modrak and guy go without saying.

Draft 2010;

RD1: Best LT

RD2: Best LB

RD3: BIG DE or NT

RD4: LB ot OL

RD5: Whatever i didnt pick in 4

RD6 and RD7: Best available player any position

That should point the team in right direction then in 2011 draft get ur franchise QB and hopefully the ol would be good enough he wont get murdered

PS... Ralph Ill work on the cheap give me 90k a year id be happy and ill be ur gm

UNCAPPED- I would say the chances of that happening are low- the players union would decertify and go the Antitrust route- the NFL would be crazy to give this Corporate sellout congress a chance to pretend to be on the working mans side at their expense.

ot de dt qb lb wr are these teams needs.... with the right gm and building through the draft, trading down acquiring more picks etc and this team can make a playoff run with the right qb in 2 years....

we are not the lions but we are bad, qb would obviously help most

bring in michael vick along with drafting someone in the 2 or 3rd rd to groom. with the rest of our picks help the trenches

Then again there may be an optimistic way of looking at it......

----We MAY be able to go with Brohm; at least for next year. Who knows, huh?

----Butler and Wood have a good chance of a full recovery leaving us 1 LT short of a potentially above average OL.

----WR I say we're not as weak as people think, but look to FA and draft wisely.

----On the "D" strictly my opinion BUT if we go to a 3-4 and Schobel likes what he sees in Mgt, etc and stays I think we at least have a heck of a nucleus of a good "D". Look... the deep 4, 5, and 6 DB's are set, then at LB's Mitchell, Poz, and MAYBIN (yeah, a natural switch for him), and that leaves needing one more either by draft or FA. Then on the DL, start with Schobel, for another year or two anyway, while IMO the other DE currently would have to be a Kelsey and Spencer Johnson split or of course draft or FA; and obviously the NT would be a giant priority. Count it, that's only 2 or 3 players short!

Not perfect I grant you, but not too shabby either. A good draft to go along with it, good coaching, avoid injuries for once, and a 10-6 playoff scenario is very possible.

History shows that a switch from a 3-4 to a 4-3, or vice versa for that matter, takes two to three years and a huge turnover in personnel.

IMHO, even if you're right and Butler and Wood recover (a good chance, but is Butler injury-prone?) and we really are one LT away from an above average OL, in my opinion you forgot one thing, which is time. If that is your personnel, a new LT and what we have today then we are one LT and two years away from an above average OL. We are extremely young through the middle.

It's all academic anyway till we see who our new GM and new coach are. But if they make changes in scheme, like switching us to a 3-4, expect a long rebuilding process.

undrafted Free Agents OGs, blocking TEs,

Player Development- Kettlebells, Sandbags, tire flipping, plyometrics, whole body vibration, hypnosis, bone density therapy, EFT, Neural transmitter exercise, Eye-Q, advanced nutrition, gene therapy, myostatin inhibitors, stem cell remolding, guided visualization, Tabata cycle, full body computer generated video scenario stimulation, orgone energy tattoos.

The only danger, if we do this, they'd be saying ...

BREAK UP the Buffalo Bills. Especially the orgone energy tattoos.

dude the dolphins switched to a 3-4 in one year and did fine. all u do is bring in fa and draft picks u need....

How good are the Dolphins? Not even a playoff team.

They got spectacularly lucky last with a tremendously easy schedule and a few wins when the Wildcat surprised everybody. Now we can see that their D isn't very good. They're in the second year of a rebuilding program and their defense is below average, with unimpressive personnel. The move to the 3-4 hasn't worked out particularly well for them, though another year or two down the line, who knows.

They are the 18th ranked defense this year and were the 15th last year against a spectacularly easy schedule. Last year, their defense was one spot worse than ours, even though their schedule was easier - we had to play them and they only had to play our pathetic offense.

I mean, is that what you want -- yeah, baby, after our second year in the 3 - 4, we're 18th in the league in defense!!!!

sure orgone energy tattoos would be controversial especially whether iridium ink sacred geometry symbols over the meridian points should be used or nano-gold ink Celtic runes over the chakras - but levitation will be a ratings booster- now excuse me I have to work on my sparkling eyes.

Evidently you haven't paid attention to the union contract and the owners opting out of it this year. By opting out of that sweetheart player deal, the owners guaranteed there'd be no cap floor or maximum in 2010 minus a new deal. There's no overriding sense anything will be worked out before UFA begins in March.

I personally think the Bills have some good young players on this roster. Their secondary is amazing...potentially the best in the NFL. They are in the top 5 in virtually every defensive passing statistic. They lead the NFL in defensive passer rating. They need to be able to draft as well at other positions as they can at DB. Wood and Levitre will be a great combo for years to come.

It all starts with a QB. With the right QB, this team could be a playoff team, even with all their other struggles. What would one more touchdown a game have done for this team? It would make us 10-4 instead of 5-9. One more touchdown per game...doesn't sound like a lot. Certainly not a lot for a good QB.

...and just how can you make the comment that "Wood may never play again"?

he broke his leg cleanly with no reported nerve and/or soft tissue damage

have you spoken to the operative surgeon or have access to some other info that the rest of us don't?

Wood may never play again

Butler has not been healthy for more than a few games in a row in his entire career and Bell has never been healthy period.

good guys to build around - if they were even functional to begin with (which they are not)

The OL is a complete mess - but at least the Bills saved $15 mil in 2009 by getting rid of the only guys that actually played.

NFLPA is scared to death of an uncapped year. What do you think is more likely to happen? 20 teams spend a lot more on players or 20 teams spend a lot less on players? The only thing that prevents half the teams in the NFL from running 85 million dollar payrolls is the CBA requiring a minimum cap number. They are about to lose $350 million-$600 million going to players and instead going directly into the owner pockets.

The last negotiation was done at the very last minute and it was reported that owners signed it in good faith on Tagliabue's recommendation. Our beloved owner Ralph Wilson was ridiculed in the media for not understanding the deal, which was the height of irony for Bills fans that know the tight-fisted accounting that is his life's M.O. Ralph was right; ownership signed a bad deal and with the bad economy they need to get out of it and reign in the union (from their perspective). There is a schism in that some maverick owners like Jerry Jones want to turn the NFL into MLB and get rid of the cap so he can buy up all the marquee talent. Owners like Ralph want an end to the current cap accounting so that personnel expenses and profit are more balanced from franchise to franchise, continuation of the great socialist experiment that made the old guard filthy rich. An uncapped year is not good for the players as it will put a severe crimp in the number of players eligible for free agency and without competition and without a cap floor, the market size could decrease as well. Uncapped may be sold to the NFL rank and file as a "good thing", but how many of the ~1900 players will really benefit? The vast majority will not, and that is the intention. The uncapped year was designed to be painful to both sides to force them to the negotiating table.

Why is everyone giving up on D Bell? I agree a LT is the top priority in the draft but Bell stil has a chance to develop. OLB is a must!

Despite his athletic ability, he has horrible technique and was little more than a yellow laundry machine when

he was in there. He was every bit as raw as nay Tackle I've seen in recent years. Yet, I wouldn't jettison him

just yet, but he clearly wasn't ready to start. He also had issues staying healthy as well.

Bell is needs a two year course in Tackle play, from Anthony Munoz.....
