pBills Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 Link George Michael's Sports Machine was a staple of my Sunday night viewing for many years. RIP Loved watching him here in the DC area. Awesome sports reporter.
WellDressed Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 A NYC guy, but he would have to look up the term 'homer' in the dictionary, RIP
PromoTheRobot Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 I loved him in Wham. I kid. I used to watch him in DC too. PTR
DCbillsfan Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 Link George Michael's Sports Machine was a staple of my Sunday night viewing for many years. RIP The guy pretty much was the precursor to what ESPN does now. Highlights of all the games. He loved sports and it showed.
Big Turk Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 Last Christmas, I gayed you my heart....err never mind....wrong George Michaels... RIP...seemed like a cool dude
Jerry Jabber Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 The Sports Machine was always good. I'll miss seeing him on DC sports. R.I.P.
Just Jack Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 Without cable, the Sports Machine was the only way I could get Bills highlights on Sunday.
VADC Bills Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 He was the first to run the continue video stream and narrate over it. While in college a group of the sport fanatics along with myself in the dorm would turn on DC's Channel 4 to watch him do the sports. RIP GM you were the best.
Beerball Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 Without cable, the Sports Machine was the only way I could get Bills highlights on Sunday. Yeah, me too. Every Sunday during the season I'd watch to catch a glimpse of the Bills. RIP George
The Senator Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 Sad news. He was a true pioneer of the TV 'sports magazine' format, and would always lighten things up his sportscasts with some offbeat thing like pro-wrestling clips, and NASCAR hi-lites way before NASCAR was big. He was one of the first to make sports news into entertainment. Used to watch him on the local news when I lived there in the early '80s, where his local sportscasts and sunday night 11:30 sports extra reports eventually evolved into his syndicated Sports Machine show - which I believe is the model for ESPN's Sports Center and all similar shows. Didn't know he was ill. RIP George.
Jim in Anchorage Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 Without cable, the Sports Machine was the only way I could get Bills highlights on Sunday. Yep you ether caught it on Sports Machine or hoped they where on half time highlights on MNF-which they never where,it seemed.
