Gordio Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Just filed a quick story on Schobel, who had interesting comments to make post practice to two reporters, including the AP.Should be on the world wide web shortly if anyone wants to look for it. jw ADD: Updated topic title. There will be more to story later today. Who cares. We have lost with Schobel for the last 9 years, we could just as easily lose without him. The guy has not been part of a winning team since he has been in the NFL, f*ck him, we will be better off without him. At least it will clear some salary off the books. Can you do me a favor & tell him to take Kelsay & Denney with him?
Buffal0 Bill5 Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Nice imagination. I've got no link, but my imagination also remembers something along those lines.
BillsWatch Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Bye now! Most. Over-rated. DE. EVER. Someone here once summed up his career perfectly: "By the time Schoebel finished circling the parking lot to get to the QB, the tD had already been scored." Aaron Schoebel is a name. There are perhaps a dozen other guys I'd rather have as a #1, and he'd be a backup on ANY competent team. More over rated than 1st round pick Eric Flowers? Let us know when you work for a front office. It will be a solid lock as a losing team every year for bets with your myopic vision. I am sure Schobel doesn't care no matter how many times you came. I am sure Mark Millen will be glad to have someone laughing at some one else for a change.

I do not know anybody that ever thought Eric Flowers was good, except maybe of course John Butler.
justnzane Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 you guys are unbelievable. Schobel is still the best DE we have, I'd rather we keep him until we have better talent to put him on the bench. Schobel would be an awesome pass-rush specialist if we had 2 competent DE's that could start ahead of him. You build teams by having replacements already on the team and ready to go. Obviously the Bills do not have that. so why would you want to create another hole.
BillsWatch Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Yeah he was more overrated then Eric Flowers. See to be overrated, people actually got to think your good. I do not know anybody that ever thought Eric Flowers was good, except maybe of course John Butler. Just because you do not know many people does not mean much. I am sure there are hundreds of DEs who could have gotten 65 sacks in those defenses hence his overrated in all time rating.
BillsVet Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Who cares. We have lost with Schobel for the last 9 years, we could just as easily lose without him. The guy has not been part of a winning team since he has been in the NFL, f*ck him, we will be better off without him. The Lions lost just about every year with Barry Sanders. Therefore he is garbage. New Orleans stunk with Archie Manning, therefore he stunk. Chicago was horrible with Dick Butkus, ergo, he was horrible. I'm just amazed those teams kept these players.
PushthePile Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 I've got no link, but my imagination also remembers something along those lines. Not calling you or Promo a liar but IMO if Belichick said something to this nature at a press conference, it could be found. I did a quick 15 minute search and all I could come up with is a list of different sources that showed the opposite. In fact alot of different quotes from Belichick praising Schobel and complimenting him. It just seems like an odd statement from any head coach.
HelloNewman Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Once a player says he is "thinking about it" means he has already retired....unless of course you are Brett Favre. Once a player retires it is up to mgmt to decide if they want the pro-rated signing bonus back. I agree with most people on this board...Schoebel scared nobody. He would only get to the QB after the LT was tired of blocking him for that play. Otherwise he was no factor at all. If I had to be stuck on this horse manure of a team right now I would retire too.....
dave mcbride Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 I recall Billy Bellicheat saying once that Schoebel wouldn't even make the Pats* as a backup. PTR He never said that. Ever.
Gordio Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 The Lions lost just about every year with Barry Sanders. Therefore he is garbage. New Orleans stunk with Archie Manning, therefore he stunk. Chicago was horrible with Dick Butkus, ergo, he was horrible. I'm just amazed those teams kept these players. The Lions made the playoffs several times when Sanders was on the team, they even made the conference championship once so why don't you keep your mouth shut if you do not know what your talking about. BTW, Merry Christmas.

I am sure there are hundreds of DEs who could have gotten 65 sacks in those defenses hence his overrated in all time rating. Maybe you should actually try watching the games instead of just looking at the stats. Schobel scared noone & most of his sacks were coverage sacks & he was a liability against the run. He certainly is/was not worth the money we are paying him & have paid him over the years.
billnutinphoenix Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Wonder if he feels like retiring after playing for a loser for his career...
Cynical Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 I've got no link, but my imagination also remembers something along those lines. Really? Don't remember that. I do remember something along the lines BB saying Jason Peters couldn't make his team. But then again, BB did not actually say that. Peter King did.
Mike in Syracuse Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Somebody please tell me the last time Schobel made a play that made you say "WOW, that was an awesome"? Schobel is a serviceable DE, but certainly not deserving of the insane salary he's scheduled to earn. Frankly, I wouldn't be shocked to see him get cut next years. A new GM is not going to be very tolerant of slow, underproducing high motor guys. Kelsay and Denny might want to consider retiring as well.

It just seems like an odd statement from any head coach. I remember this clearly... but he said it about Jason Peters, not Schobel. I also remember BB praising Schobel a couple times.

The Big Cat Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 you right we only give up 500 yards rushing a game. but yeah the defense isn't the problem Hahaha, yeah let hyperbole be the center of your argument on this one.
BillsfaninFl Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Just filed a quick story on Schobel, who had interesting comments to make post practice to two reporters, including the AP.Should be on the world wide web shortly if anyone wants to look for it. jw ADD: Updated topic title. There will be more to story later today. I hope Schobel retires. You could tell he lost a step before he got hurt. This year he bounced back on sacks, but too often runners have gotten outside of him on sweeps and he cannot run down the line to make tackles on inside runs like he used to. I like Schobel. He has been a good contributor to the team, but it's time to go.
