CodeMonkey Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 I think Peyton Manning trumps possible playoff deciders like PHI/DAL or PIT/MIA. PTR If the colts win this weekend I suspect the Bills game gets flexed.
PastaJoe Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 The NFL schedule doesn't show any week 17 Sunday night game. All the games are at 1pm or 4:15pm. Is that because there isn't one, or that it's TBD?
NobesBLO13 Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 I think Peyton Manning trumps possible playoff deciders like PHI/DAL or PIT/MIA. PTR New England's week 17 game in 2007 was prime time I think against the Giants not sure if it was flex though

Is that because there isn't one, or that it's TBD? There is no game scheduled Sunday night because the NFL is waiting to pick the most compelling one. There is no Monday night game. PTR
Astrojanitor Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 If the colts win this weekend I suspect the Bills game gets flexed. Philly/dallas is clearly the better game, but people do love watching "history." I remember when Mark mcGuire was about to break the single season home run record thos game were being shown nationally. casual fans love that kind of stuff. However a team just went 16-0 a couple years ago--the novelty is dead. I say no flex. Besides, I don't want the whole country watching the Bills. Times are tough; America doesn't need that.
Dan Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 God I hope not. How many more completely embarassing primetime games do we have to endure?
KD in CA Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Philly/dallas is clearly the better game, but people do love watching "history." This is why I would bet on it happening.
yall Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 I hope they don't. It's bad enough that I'm going, but at least it's early.
BuffaloWings Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 New England's week 17 game in 2007 was prime time I think against the Giants not sure if it was flex though That was the NFL Network's Saturday night game. The Sunday night game (I believe) was Tennessee-Indy. NBC is permitted to wait until the Monday or Tuesday before that game to pick which one they wanted, whereas they have to announce the other flex games 12 days in advance.
Just Jack Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 NBC is permitted to wait until the Monday or Tuesday before that game to pick which one they wanted, whereas they have to announce the other flex games 12 days in advance. Correct, so by this time next week we'll know for sure.
thebug Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Hope so, then maybe some Colts fan will pay me for my tickets.
dbringer Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 For the sake of football fans everywhere, I hope NBC wises up and decides not to flex this game. This year's Bills team is like that guy in "The Cooler". Whenever they show up on a football field, they suck the life out of the entire atmsophere - Buffalo players, opposing players, and fans alike. Even Gus Johnson is calm.
The_Philster Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 It's very possible but it depends on what CBS and Fox protect. NBC doesn't automatically get to get whatever game they want. CBS and Fox have first rights on each of the day games and can protect a certain number of games. NBC will take what they feel is the best game out of what's left unprotected.
BillsfaninFl Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 I think Peyton Manning trumps possible playoff deciders like PHI/DAL or PIT/MIA. PTR I don't want the Bills flexed. Why suffer more embarrassment on national TV?
Matt in KC Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 The NFL link I found seems to indicate the only way the Week 17 match can be chosen less than 12 days ahead (i.e. now) is to find one with playoff implications. Not sure if that's really a rule or a common-sense interpretation of why it might be chosen so late. NFL Flexible Scheduling NFL Flexible Scheduling 101 Begins Sunday of Week 11 In effect during Weeks 11-17 Only Sunday afternoon games are subject to being moved into the Sunday night window. The game that has been tentatively scheduled for Sunday night during flex weeks will be listed at 8:15 p.m. ET. The majority of games on Sundays will be listed at 1:00 p.m. ET during flex weeks except for games played in Pacific or Mountain Time zones which will be listed at 4:05 or 4:15 p.m. ET. No impact on Thursday, Saturday or Monday night games. The NFL will decide (after consultation with CBS, FOX, NBC) and announce as early as possible the game being played at 8:15 p.m. ET. The announcement will come no later than 12 days prior to the game. The NFL may also announce games moving to 4:05 p.m. ET and 4:15 p.m. ET. Week 17 start time changes could be decided on 6 days notice to ensure a game with playoff implications. The NBC Sunday night time slot in "flex" weeks will list the game that has been tentatively scheduled for Sunday night. Fans and ticket holders must be aware that NFL games in flex weeks are subject to change 12 days in advance (6 days in Week 17) and should plan accordingly. NFL schedules all games. Teams will be informed as soon as they are no longer under consideration or eligible for a move to Sunday night.
mjohns85 Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 I think Peyton Manning trumps possible playoff deciders like PHI/DAL or PIT/MIA. PTR I agree. Peyton is the "golden boy" of the NFL

NFL Flexible Scheduling If there's none available for them to take, then they can take the best of what's left...playoffs or no playoffs. They don't have any games scheduled there tentatively so some game WILL be getting flexed
