Erik Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Maybe somebody can educate me but was Weis that big a factor in NE or was it the personnel? I think I could have won there with all of the offensive weapons they have had in the 2000s. Well, honestly since he left, with the exception of 2007, the offenses have been somewhat of a disappointment and they haven't won a Super Bowl.
DarthICE Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 It's just an opinion, but I'd love to see Fox with Weis as his OC. That would rock. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writ...gameplan/1.html and scroll to the bottom. "The Rumor Mill. Getting hot. I can feel the pregame-show vibe Sunday already: Cowher to Carolina. Shanahan to Washington. Somebody to Buffalo. (Personally, I'd like John Fox or Mike Zimmer there, with Fox bringing Charlie Weis to run the offense if it's him.)" I will !@#$ing quit following the Bills if they hire that bum Fox. He is getting canned in Carolina for a good reason.
dave mcbride Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Wasn't exactly a comparison. I was merely asking if Bills fans wanted a mediocre coach after a losing coach. Fox is a much better head coach than Jauron, but he's mediocre. mediocre = .500. A 68-57 regular season record and a 5-3 postseason record does not equal .500. Hence, you're wrong.
dave mcbride Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Peter King is a fat !@#$ing whore loving ass licking dick sucking piece of ****. And thats how I feel about him ona good day. !@#$ Peter King and his fat !@#$ing ass. He's a !@#$ing !@#$er. Why??
EasternOHBillsFan Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 So far, I haven't seen many negative responses, which is good. John Fox is a winner, but has been saddled with a quarterback who has cost him far too many games for him to be acceptable- he's had no real support behind him either at the position, which made it worse. Charlie Weis has produced a large amount of offensive production from Notre Dame in his tenure there, and he most certainly can be the answer to our offensive nightmare. This intriguing combination could very well be a huge step towards bringing the playoffs back to the Bills. However, the idea that Claussen could be our quarterback is extremely frightening- he is vastly overrated. Now I am hoping we do NOT have a pick to where we ould draft him if we do land him as OC. BTW, Jim Harbaugh is NOT leaving Stanford anytime soon.
mob16151 Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Why?? Because he's such a condescending douche bag. I hate his writing style. I hate the way he name drops in all of his articles. I hate his annoying ass travel notes. I quit reading his column like right after we fired Jauron. I was unable to deal with anymore Peter King. If I have to read 1 more "While me and my homie Bill Belicheck were eating crumpets and blowing each other, we had a laugh at every other team in the NFL". type sentence I was gonna lose it.
Tcali Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 John Fox is a mediocre coach. With 3 winning seasons in 8 years, no thank you. It sucks that this is probably the type of coach this organization can get. All the other teams end up with the top coaches in the game, we end up with the Fox's and Jaurons of the league!I would rather have Dungy than Fox. Just say no to John Fox! I think Fox is a very good coach.
outsidethebox Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 I think Fox is a very good coach. Three winning seasons in 8 years does not equal very good. If he were a very good coach, why would they get rid of him?
Tcali Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Three winning seasons in 8 years does not equal very good. If he were a very good coach, why would they get rid of him? ask Ralph

billnutinphoenix Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 I'll take Fox....But, this could mean that we'll get Dave Gettleman....He is the Giants pro personnel director...That might be a good thing....
Cash Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 would work for me as long as there is someone new in the talant dept. upstairs! Have a feeling that where ever Wies goes Claussen will be rumured to follow. I always love those rumors. Reminds me of 1999 when people kept talking about the Bears drafting McNabb at #8, because McNabb's originally from Chicago. Except that McNabb went #2 overall, and Clausen will go no later than #3 overall. Unless Weis goes to the Rams in some capacity, those rumors will be ridiculous.
San Jose Bills Fan Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Fox might not be the guy but how can you honestly compare him to Dick Jauron? Fox has a winning record as a coach...Jauron never has had more than one winning season as a head coach. Fox has a winning record in the playoffs, Jauron doesn't have any playoff wins. No comparison. I'm not saying Jauron is as good or better than John Fox. How could anyone say that? But Jerry Richardson has certainly been a much better owner than Ralph Wilson. So Fox has worked in an environment much more conducive to winning while Jauron has had a bit more of an uphill fight in Buffalo. Fox would be an upgrade but how much? I'm with those who wouldn't be terribly excited if we were to hire Fox. In my early forecast as to how things will shake out, I believe that Clausen will be drafted before the Bills pick so I think your fear is not likely to materialize. As for Harbaugh, though he recently signed an extension with Stanford, the reports here are that he has plenty of escape latitude in this contract and neither he or Stanford AD Bob Bowlsby have assured anyone that Harbaugh will still be at Stanford come the 2010 season. My gut is that he indicated to Notre Dame that he wasn't interested in their job and that he is holding out for a return to the NFL. I'll take Fox....But, this could mean that we'll get Dave Gettleman....He is the Giants pro personnel director...That might be a good thing.... This is the most important thing...that we restructure our football department to increase our success in procuring top player talent for any new coach to work with.
MRW Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Do you guys really trust Peter King's analysis on coaches? Peter King also said this in 2000: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/inside_ga.../26/ten_things/ "If I'm New England Patriots owner Bob Kraft, I have to say no to Bill Belichick now, hire Tom Donahoe to run the football side of business, and get on with my life....Donahoe and Dom Capers sound good to me." Damn, now that's depressing. You just gave me a glimpse into an alternate reality. It was beautiful there.

mob16151 Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 somebody needs a couple of tokes and to relax You think I need to relax now, you should hear how I feel about Rick Reilly.
turftoe Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Zimmer would be a good pick. Most of his experience is with the 4-3, so we wouldn't have to do a complete overhaul. The biggest problem with a defensive minded head coach is the critical need to lure in a quality OC. I read that Weis is interested in Chicago's OC position, should it open up. His kids are in school/college in the area. Zimmer lost his wife this year and perhaps is less tied down to one area. Does Zimmer know Bobby April? I would really hate to see April leave. Remember back to the days of Wade Phillips and our "punt catcher?" April is a heck of a coach!
Red Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 We won't pick high enough to land Clausen, but the Fox/Zimmer and Weis combo would definitely have me dreaming about Buffalo turning it around again. H2O, we NEED a new front office more than a new coaching staff! Modrak and Guy have had 8-9 seasons to prove themselves. HOW have they justified keeping their jobs?
EasternOHBillsFan Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 You think I need to relax now, you should hear how I feel about Rick Reilly. I feel the exact same way- Reilly=obnixous, loudmouthed scum?
