DarthICE Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Not sure if this helps our search for a GM/HC or not. http://www.livescience.com/culture/091217-...state-list.html
/dev/null Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 46. California But I thought happy cows came from California?
KD in CA Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Nothing breed happiness like the Big Apple! 49. New Jersey 50. Connecticut 51. New York Seriously, almost every state in the top 20 has one thing in common: No big cities. Now look at the states with Boston, DC, Philly, Chicago, LA, NYC, etc. Depressing indeed.
Typical TBD Guy Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Nothing breed happiness like the Big Apple! 49. New Jersey 50. Connecticut 51. New York Seriously, almost every state in the top 20 has one thing in common: No big cities. Now look at the states with Boston, DC, Philly, Chicago, LA, NYC, etc. Depressing indeed. A lot of those states near the top also happen to have the lowest high school and college graduation rates. Ignorance is bliss?
Tortured Soul Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Seriously, almost every state in the top 20 has one thing in common: No big cities. Now look at the states with Boston, DC, Philly, Chicago, LA, NYC, etc. Depressing indeed. Because according to the study, population density is inversely correlated to happiness.
Chef Jim Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 But I thought happy cows came from California? Cows don't pay taxes.
evilbuffalobob Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Cows don't pay taxes. Neither do the scumbags we support whom suck off the system. Oh wait... they do pay tax on their smokes.
High Mark Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Nothing breed happiness like the Big Apple! 49. New Jersey 50. Connecticut 51. New York Seriously, almost every state in the top 20 has one thing in common: No big cities. Now look at the states with Boston, DC, Philly, Chicago, LA, NYC, etc. Depressing indeed. Since when are there 51 states?
FloridaSnow Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Since when are there 51 states? The study counts D.C. as it would a state.
Mr. WEO Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Half the states in the top ten have the worst schools, the worst healthcare, the highest levels of obesity.....
/dev/null Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Since when are there 51 states? I heard there were 57
Red Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Not sure if this helps our search for a GM/HC or not. http://www.livescience.com/culture/091217-...state-list.html Surprised? I would be unhappy too if I was constantly subject to the taxes in this nation's greatest Socialist Welfare State. Well, that...and the general lack of sunshine.
Red Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Neither do the scumbags we support whom suck off the system. Oh wait... they do pay tax on their smokes. Uh, by 'scumbags' don't you mean Democratic/ Progressive baffoons who keep making moves to increase OUR taxes while they consistently find ways not to pay their own?
CodeMonkey Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Neither do the scumbags we support whom suck off the system. Oh wait... they do pay tax on their smokes and booze. Fixed.
High Mark Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 The study counts D.C. as it would a state. They count DC as a state? Thats odd considering its not a state.....
GG Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 This guy is the Mel Kiper of happy living state lists. A new ranking every month. what gives?
Sisyphean Bills Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 I heard there were 57 So much for the theory we're smarter than the rest of the world.
Sisyphean Bills Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 This guy is the Mel Kiper of happy living state lists. A new ranking every month. what gives? Looks like they use one of the old ping-pong ball machines from the lottery folks to figure it all out based on the consistency.
FloridaSnow Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 They count DC as a state? Thats odd considering its not a state..... Don't shoot the messenger. They mention it just above their list. I'm guessing they didn't want to discount the area from their study. I would have liked to see them include US territories too. Not that I place much faith in this study, it just would have been interesting to see where they fell.
