BillsPride12 Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Good category; bad choice IMO. That movie was so trite and preachy I couldn't even sit through it the 2d time I watched it. Friday Night Lights was much better. Invincible was my favorite sports flick, with the Cinderella Man a close second

Wooderson Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Surprised you picked Grindhouse, I was disappointed in that film. Was Justice League: The New Frontier released in theatres? You can put foreign movies in your list, I picked "Let the Right One In" & "Night Watch" on mine. I enjoyed Grindhouse as well. Although, I thought that Planet Terror was the better of the two flicks.
Beerball Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Here are my picks for the movies of the decade and the genre's I decided to go with. Before someone points it out I know most of my picks are post 2004 but hey I was a bit younger in the early part of this decade so that could explain it. And if you can think of more categories I forgot put them in. Comedy- Happy Feet Horror- Happy Feet Romantic Comedy- Happy Feet Super Hero Movie- Happy Feet Action Movie- Happy Feet Documentary- Happy Feet Animated Film- Happy Feet Drama- Happy Feet Best Overall- Happy Feet Biggest Disappointment- lack of Happy Feet II Epic...the BEST penguin movie ever!
billsfan72 Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Comedy: The Hangover Horror: Saw Romantic Comedy: Sweet Home Alabama Superhero Movie: The Dark Knight Action Movie: Blackhawk Down Documentary: Indoctrination U Animated: Cars Drama: The Wrestler Best Overall: The Wrestler Biggest Disappointment: Star Wars
BillsWatch Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Surprised you picked Grindhouse, I was disappointed in that film. Was Justice League: The New Frontier released in theatres? I watch so little of current horror genre it is best of category for me. Slasher, Jason, etc movies do not appeal to me and should be a different category. I do not know if "Justice League: The New Frontier" made it to US theaters. It was a film I wanted and got on DVD due to the excellent voice players and 50s classic style art when it came out. It only made $3.5 million at box office and according to IMDB it was a direct-to-DVD so I guess it was released only to a very small set of theaters.
KD in CA Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 Epic...the BEST penguin movie ever! Tom would disagree with that!
billsfan89 Posted December 21, 2009 Author Posted December 21, 2009 Invincible was my favorite sports flick, with the Cinderella Man a close second Sports Movie great category to add I would say that mine would have to be Rocky Balboa a great way to end the Rocky series and a very good film that didn't try to do too much. Honorable mentions - Friday Night Lights and The Replacements (Guilty Pleasure movie).
Beerball Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 Tom would disagree with that! My penguins dance, his only march!
Mark Vader Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 I watch so little of current horror genre it is best of category for me. I know what you mean, I find that there are few horrors worth watching anymore. However, I recommend "The Descent". I found it to be a very good horror flick. Check it out. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0435625/
bbb Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 I was sitting next to a couple from the hills of East Tenn. at this flick. When the movie ended the husband very loudly said "What the F?" I agreed wholeheartedly. Wierd flick. The movie was gripping (though weird indeeed) until the end when I also said WTF
Buftex Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 After giving it some thought, my favorite movie of this decade: "City Of God" It is a foreign film, but don't let that scare you off... a little Tarantino-ish, but a well told story, and great to look at. It is about the drug lords of the Brazillian slums, and based on a true story of a power struggle between opposing drug lords. The movie flies by, lots of action, and lots of humor, amazing soundtrack... a tad on the violent side, but very powerful. It likely would have won an Oscar, but was disqualified because it was not submitted to "the Acadamy" on time. Yes, my favorite movie of the last decade.

From what I've read many places, and heard, it is an amazing movie. I have not yet seen it, but I plan on watching at some point.
Astrojanitor Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 Best movies, in no order and without regard to genre (and without me bothering to get up and look at my dvds) Brick The Lookout There Will Be Blood Once Man On The Train Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind I'm Not There Clean the Life Aquatic Fog of War Brand Upon the Brain! Mulholland Drive Inglorious Basterds 24 Hour Party People High Fidelity Old Boy The Baader Meinhof Complex Memories of Murder
Astrojanitor Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 biggest disappointment:tie: "juno" and "there will be dull," which is more notoriously known as "there will be dull." damn, can't stop writing that. "blood," dammit, "there will be (dull) blood" two god-awful movies, both involving two very overactive actors, who absolutely knew nothing about nuance, and two directors who couldn't control their precocious divas. jw ADD: and far too many blowhard critics, who fell over themselves in an attempt to show how freakin' out it they were, aka dull. Juno was pretty meaningless garbage, I'll give you that. But There Will Be Blood is amazing i actually went out and bought a blu ray player just for that film. I watch it (along with the original dawn of the Dead) every couple months just to keep me honest.
CosmicBills Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Biggest Disappointment: Cloverfield (sorry Tgreg) ;) But ... didn't Star Trek make up for it?!
CosmicBills Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Some Of My Favorite Films of the Decade (That haven't been mentioned yet ... unless I missed some) Comedy: Old School (in my opinion, both Will Ferrel and Vince Vaughn's finest work), Wonder Boys, Snatch Drama: In Bruges, Unbreakable Mystery/Thriller: Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang, Memento Action Adventure: Casino Royal Western: Open Range Doc: Anvil Remakes: Ocean 11

Friday Night Lights was much better. Finally someone who agrees with me on this! lol I take a lot of crap for saying Friday Night Lights was a better film than Titans...Denzel was great, but I just didn't care for that film nearly as much as everyone else did. Friday Night Lights was all-around badass, though!
