Here are my picks for the movies of the decade and the genre's I decided to go with. Before someone points it out I know most of my picks are post 2004 but hey I was a bit younger in the early part of this decade so that could explain it. And if you can think of more categories I forgot put them in.

Comedy- 40 year old virgin

honorable mentions- Super Bad, Forgetting Shara Marshall, and The Hangover

Horror- 28 Days later

Romantic Comedy- Forgetting Shara Marshall

honorable mention- Knocked up.

Super Hero Movie- The Dark Knight

honorable mentions- Batman Begins and Spiderman

Action Movie- No Country For Old Men

Documentary- King of Kong

Animated Film- Shrek

Honorable Mentions- Kung Fu Panda, the Incredibles, and Ratatoullie

Drama- Almost Famous

Honorable Mention- Lost in Translation

Best Overall- 40 year old Virgin (Close behind Almost Famous and No Country For Old Men)

Biggest Disappointment- Star Wars episode 2 (Despite Natalie Portman looking so hot in it).

Normally I would be with you on the whole Romantic Comedy front. BUT Forgetting Shara Marshall is a great movie and had to give it a shout out, ANYONE who has ever gotten dumped by a chick can totally relate to this movie and much more importantly it actually funny. Also Knocked up was a pretty good one as well. But yeah most romantic comedies suck.

Action Movie- No Country For Old Men

Great movie, but how is No Country for Old Men considered an action film? I would classify it as a drama. Action film means something that could just as easily star Jean Claude van Damme as the main character, in my mind.

Drama - Gran Torino (although I think I liked it more for comedic value :flirt: )

Other Categories:

Worst - Birth (did anyone else see this one with Nicole Kidman? WTF?)

Most Disturbing - Saw, Requiem for a Dream

Guilty Pleasure - The Fast and the Furious

Pleasant Surprise - World Trade Center

Others I Could watch anytime they are on:

- Snatch

- Boiler Room

- Joe Dirt

- Anger Management

- Super Troopers

- Gladiator

- Barber Shop

- Superbad

- Borat

- Blood Diamond

- Traffic

I'm sure I'm missing a TON...can't believe its been 10 years.

Not sure what my favorite movies of the decade are, but I have to say "Gran Torino" would get my vote, based on all the props it is getting, as the most overrated movie of the decade, on TSW. I like Eastwood, but that was one awful script... about as corny and predictable as it gets.

Man, this is actually really tough:

Comedy: Super Troopers, Not Another Teen Movie

Drama: Scorcese has to be here-The Aviator/Gangs of New York.

Good Night and Good Luck was really good, and i love smoking in movies

Super Hero/Graphic Novel : The Dark Knight, close 2nd is Watchmen

Science Fiction-REALLY liked Star Trek actually, followed closely by Moon w/Sam Rockwell

Trilogy/Multiple Sequels-LOTR by far, might be the best OVERALL film experience of this decade

Believe it or not, the Harry Potter films are remarkably consistent

Documentary: Bowling for Columbine

Most Pretentious-No Country For Old Men

2nd Most Pretentious-Benjamin Button. That movie was terrible. I mean, really bad. 3 hours of life is miserable and then you die, I get it.

3rd Most Pretentious-Doubt- Wow, stuff was in Doubt. Thanks for telling me nothing for 3 hours.

I think you are thinking of the 80's/early 90's type of action movie. To me an action movie is a movie with a lot of duh action. No country for old men had a ton of action in it. Now was the action a little more subdued yes but just because a movie isn't filled with over the top action (not to mention unnecessary explosions and bad catch phrases) doesn't mean its not an action movie.

No country for old men is a movie with a ton of guy getting shot and a ton of other action going on as well. I guess I liked the more gritty and realistic action better then the Die Hard brand because it gave the movie an intensity you rarely get from those types of action movies. I think No Country for Old Men is a movie in which you didn't know if the main character was going to live which actually made the action exciting (You know John McClain isn't going to die).
