Frit0 Bandit0 Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 That is not a legitimate question.....I would look him straight in the eye and quickly answer 40 kabillion nillion and a half
ieatcrayonz Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Chef, thanks for that....i had yet to google the question...that is outstanding advice that you gave..... ...thanks to all for the suggestions....it sounds like this job is mine to lose..but i have heard that before. Do NOT follow Chef Jim's advice. If you don't explicitly tell this dude that you refuse to wash his balls then you will regret it for a long time.
thebug Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Whatever. You can't count the balls because the balls and the snow are both completely white. Yes but those balls qualify for double because the balls are both in the air and in the water (snow) at the same time.
The Poojer Posted December 11, 2009 Author Posted December 11, 2009 not to mention the exchange rate and metric system in canada....that cannot be ignored Yes but those balls qualify for double because the balls are both in the air and in the water (snow) at the same time.
ieatcrayonz Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Yes but those balls qualify for double because the balls are both in the air and in the water (snow) at the same time. Dude snow is not water until it melts which is basically never in Canada so you can't count double air. Plus it would only be 133.333333333% + a little bit air anyway. The other 66.66666666666+% is hydrogen.
eSJayDee Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 how much 2 tons of gold costs That's a very vague question. Gold is typically measured in Troy ounces, not pounds or tons. Also, if it's verbal, is it a ton or tonne? Long ton, metric ton, etc. Is there such a thing as a Troy ton? If not, how/when do you convert? FWIW, there's not 16 ounces in a Troy pound. 20? IIRC, there's abit over 7 Troy ounces/avoir dupois (sp?) pound. You have the potential to impress the interviewer, then again, you can make yourself look like an ass (like I likely did ).
DrFishfinder Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 got a heads up on an interview question I will be facing....apparently they don't really want an answer, they simply want to see how I approach the answer.... 'On any given day in July, how many golf balls are in the air at any one time....' my thought process is that at any one time there are proabaly 18 balls in the air per golf course....(no balls in the air on par 3s, due to people on drivable greens, but 2 balls in the air on each par 5).....multiply that 18 times the number of golf courses in the US.... anyone have any more creative thoughts? "any given number".
Chef Jim Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 That is not a legitimate question.....I would look him straight in the eye and quickly answer 40 kabillion nillion and a half And his response will be "no, golfballs, not the national debt in 2012."

Pete Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 I would want to ask a few questions to find what exactly they are looking for- 1-at time where? New York? USA? North America? The world? 2- at the same exact second? 3-what time of day? 4-weather?

/dev/null Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 Tell them the number of balls depends on how many holes Tiger is hitting
Chef Jim Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 Tell them the number of balls depends on how many holes Tiger is hitting And that depends on the news but from what I've heard he's up to 26 right now.
/dev/null Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 And that depends on the news but from what I've heard he's up to 26 right now. One more and he's got an 18 hole course and a 9 hole course
Chef Jim Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 One more and he's got an 18 hole course and a 9 hole course Oh I think his putter has been in enough holes to cover the PGA tour for several years.
Mark Vader Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 Just out of curiousity, what is the job you are interviewing for? It better be a damn good one if they are asking you this question.
Just Jack Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 Just out of curiousity, what is the job you are interviewing for? It better be a damn good one if they are asking you this question. Theoretical Mathematician, ie, pull numbers out of his ass.
mead107 Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 You would have to say that looking at it from several different ways it could all depend on how hundreds of different conclusions you want the outcome to be arrived at.
/dev/null Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 Theoretical Mathematician, ie, pull numbers out of his ass. How did the mathematician solve his constipation problem? He worked it out with a pencil...
