Frit0 Bandit0 Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 NICE! 50'! No wetsuits! The National Weather Service forecast 30- to 40-foot waves, with some sets approaching 50 feet on the outer reefs as Hawaii remained under a high surf warning. The high surf was caused by two large storms northwest of Hawaii.

jayg Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 The many times I've been there Waimea Bay is usually flat, but I've never been in the winter. Would love to see those waves in person.
WWVaBeach Posted December 10, 2009 Author Posted December 10, 2009 The many times I've been there Waimea Bay is usually flat, but I've never been in the winter. Would love to see those waves in person. We have been there a few times the last time being this past August. As you said it was smooth as glass. We're going back to Oahu in Jan-Feb for 12 days and maybe the surf will still be up. If I'm not mistaken big wave season ends in Jan.
