UConn James
Link The Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade, and Consumer Protection will consider a bill that would allow the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to prohibit any bowl game from calling itself a "national championship" unless the game is "the final game of a single elimination post-season playoff system." The subcommittee is expected to vote on the proposal on Wednesday after a line-by-line consideration of the bill. More token pressure on the NCAA, and again not having much teeth or chance of passage. The BCS system makes just enough of a select group of powerful institutions too much money for them to loosen their grasp.
H2o
This is one thing that I would love to see Congress push through before Jan. 1, 2010.
el Tigre
These clowns need to stick to issues of national importance like wars, jobs, health care, etc. Thay have no buisness wasting tax dollars on legislating or investigating sports IMO.
