bananathumb
I was very impressed with Tony Pike today. A QB that can throw like that in a snow storm is someone the Bills should be looking closely at. Has Tim Tebow or Colt McCoy ever come back from 21 points down to win a conference championship in a snow storm? No? Speaking of that Cinci/Pitt game. Pitt had that game won if they ran the clock and kicked the FG. That RB (sorry the name escapes me) should have pulled an MJ Drew and took a knee at the 1. Kick the FG on 2nd or 3rd down so if your holder bobbles the snap you have a second chance. PTR Agree with both your points. Pike is intriguing, yet I haven't seen much about him being a first round pick. To me, he seems better than any of the other QB prospects in college. As far as that RB of Pitt scoring, I thought Kelly definitely told his defense, "let this knucklehead score NOW," because that was the only way they would ever be able to tie the score. You could tell they just let him walk in. I definitely wouldn't mind seeing a Tony Pike/Brian Kelly combo in Buffalo next year. Big arm QB and gutsy, smart, vocal HC. EasternOHBillsFan
WAIT a second... How come no one is going after the kickoff "specialist" for Nebraska?!! He kicked the ball OUT OF BOUNDS!!! How in the #!@# do you kick a ball out of bounds when all the other team has to do is kick a FG to win???? THAT is where they lost the game.... something very simple he blew.... his ONE JOB. Sharp eye for the open receiver. Pretty cool under pressure - moves away from it well. Didn't get hit much, thanks to a very good receiving corps: TE Guiduli, WRs Wood, Binns, and Gilyard. Especially Mardy Gilyard - 381 all-purpose yards, ko td return, 2 pass tds in the Pitt game. He probably goes in the 1st round. Decent running from Pead, also. It'll be interesting to see where Pike goes. Late 2nd? Somewhere in the 3rd?

bills_red
I didn't watch all the game (but have seen a few others), he did have 3 INTs in the game. Saw part of the come back and he looked good. He broke is non throwing arm twice now, and is skinny as a pole. I'd be okay with him in R3 but anything before then I'd be skeptical http://walterfootball.com/scoutingreport2010tpike.php I am not a fan of McGuire. I think Pike does have some arm strength but I'd call it avg.
BuffOrange
McCoy is an idiot - I hope we go nowhere near him. lol @ Mack Brown's pathetic postgame comments: "we knew there was a second left". Right Mack - there's tons of precedent for reviewing the final second when the ball hits the ground:
BuffOrange
They cant make any argument about that. The only reason Texas is number 2 is because there a big name school in a big name conference. This is true. Preseason polls FTW. College football is so lame.
stuckincincy
Would you consider Pike a legit QB prospect for Buffalo? PTR Prospect, yes. Starter, no. I'm not concerned about his build, just that he's avoided the hits in college. I don't know how he'll stand up in the pros. Given the Bill's other needs, I wouldn't think they would have a shot at him, anyway. I'd consider it a reach if they made a trade move to get him. Chilly
lol, the comments on his game are funny. That was about the worst I've ever seen our offensive line play. Give credit to Suh, we had no answer for him. The people blaming Colt are misplacing the blame - this one was on the offensive line. That being said, while everyone is talking about Nebraska's defensive performance, we had an even better one. I'm extremely happy with the way our defense performed today, limiting any offense to 100 yards total for an entire game is amazing... even if it was just Nebraska. If our Special Teams would have played up to par, they would have scored 6 points the entire game, off of 2 Colt picks. Luckily, Nebraska is better than Alabama pass rush wise. The biggest difference is pass rush, where Nebraska is #2 in sacks in the country, while Alabama is #22. As long as Colt gets some time, and we can get a little bit of a push for the run game, we'll be fine. I think it'll be a pretty good game, the two teams are rather evenly matched. We're #9 in total ofense, while Alabama is #16. Alabama's #2 in total defense, while we're #3 (for reference, Nebraska is #9). I think it'll be a really tight, really fun game. It's going to come down to the wire, hopefully with us winning it.

I expect nothing less than a 40-10 'bama blowout.

I expect nothing less than a 40-10 'bama blowout. Bama definitely deserves to be favored, but unfortunately the sports anti-Gods don't work that way so Texas will probably luckbox their way to another win. See Tennessee in '98 who upset FSU after the SEC refs gave them a phantom 4th down interference flag for the win in Syracuse. Also lol @ Texas getting 1st place votes from the coaches. They've clearly been more impressive than Bama against a tougher schedule...nice job Big XII homers.
Cynical
lol, the comments on his game are funny. That was about the worst I've ever seen our offensive line play. I'm extremely happy with the way our defense performed today, limiting any offense to 100 yards total for an entire game is amazing... even if it was just Nebraska. I think that's the point. The performance was against Nebraska. Last I checked, the Huskers O is ranked in the 80's. That puts them in the bottom third in the nation. Not exactly a powerhouse to contain. Meanwhile, the #9 defense made the #9 offense ineffective. And Bama leads the nation in passes defended. You might get the ball off, but it still means the same thing: the play failed. As long as Colt gets some time, and we can get a little bit of a push for the run game, we'll be fine. Tebow had time to pass. How did that work out for them? Does Texas even have a run game? Good luck in getting that "push". I am betting on Cody and company saying otherwise. On offense, Bama brings a balanced attack with big play capability to the table. Texas is going to have it's hands full trying to contain McElroy passing and Ingram/Richardson rushing. On defense, Bama plays a pro style of defense which has confounded numerous collegiate QB's. I doubt if Colt will be any different. And with no running game to fall back on, it could get ugly for Texas.
