My car's Tranmission is SHOT, but I don't

My Transmission is SHOT. Gone. Done. Kaput.

But, I am not going to blame my car not running properly on that.

I mean, my A/C doesn't work sometimes. Also, My power window on the passenger side gets stuck about 50% of the time. Also, the passenger front seat will not recline. My windshield wipers sometimes miss an annoying spot on the windshield. It doesn't fully block my view, but it gets annoying. My Radio is stuck to one station, and its an all-white rap station. My gas tank has a leak in it, but about 3/4 of the way up, so as long as I don't go past that point, I'm OK. Also, the side view mirror is stuck in one position, so i can't see out of it very well. Oh, and the trunk is stuck shut.

These are the things I choose to blame for my car not working.

I refuse to blame the transmission. I mean, come on! There's all sorts of other problems that make the car not work to its fullest potential, so I refuse to blame one little thing like the transmission being shot on the car. I mean, just think, if only the passenger power window would work ALL the time, or the windshield wipers would catch every spot, I would have one fine automobile.

So, to everyone who wants to say "dude, you can't drive without a good transmission" I say "blame it on the hole in the gas tank.

And this, my friends, in in response to:

Brilliant post.

Provided, of course, that you buy the analogy of Drew Bledsoe being equivalent to the transmission of a car. Some of us don't share your little feeble-minded idiot views on things.

And even if we did...it ignores the fact that the entire team is the equivalent of a rusted out Yugo. Even if the transmission were factory mint...the car's still a piece of stevestojan.

Well, it sounds like changing the transmission will only patch a "symptom." Based on many of the other symptoms you describe, it sounds like your problem could very well be the car's computer. I have a feeling that if you replace the transmission without actually fixing the problem, you will end up having to replace the transmission again within a year.

In my little feeble-minded idiot view on things, I see the QB as the leader of the team, the only individual (besides the center) that touches the ball on EVERY play. Lets put it into a perspective even you might understand.

Say you some new rule is put into place where each team in the NFL has to have at least one amputee on their team. And they have to be an offensive position player. It would SUCK, but I would much rather toss the amputee over to the WR position than have him be my QB.

My point is, if someone SUCKS on the team, the one GLARING position that it shouldnt be is QB.

People in that other thread wanted to say "Well, the OLine isn't great" Ok, so lets replace FIVE guys instead of one?!?!! No, get a QB who doesn't need a PERFECT scenario to complete a pass. Others wanted to blame WR's for missed catches. WHAT? What about the two super human catches made by Lee Evans two weeks ago. Those were HORRID passes, but they still go in the COMPLETION column for Drew, because his WR BAILED HIM OUT.

The Transmission comparison DOES make sense. If your RB sucks, you can still go places (see 2 of the last 3 years in NE). If you have an over the hill WR, he doesn't get 5 passes tossed his way a game. But if your QB is just plain DONE, there is little you can do. And if i hear Trent Dilfer once, I will throw up. He is an exception, not the Rule.

The QB is the Transmission. With a poor one, you aren't going anywhere.

Yeah, that makes a lot more sense.

And like I said...even if I buy your analogy, if the transmission's shot on your Yugo, fixing the transmission doesn't change the fact that your car's a piece of stevestojan. The idea that all that ails this team can be fixed by replacing one man is shallow and stupid at a level that can only be a product of your warped thought process.

That, by the way, is not a defense of Bledsoe. It has nothing to do with Bledsoe, in fact. I just think you're proving once again that you're an idiot.

Tom - the only conclusion one can draw from your endless empty insults is that you often don't actually form a new opinion based on anyone's posts. All you do is read one post you find unintelligent, unthoughtful, or even just something you don't agree with and you immediately put up a filter whereas you will no longer listen to anything that person says in the future. I can almost guarantee if one of your little cohorts from the pathetic PPP board had written what I wrote in this thread, you would be shooting blanks you would be so happy about it. You are just a miserable little man who gets his jollies by repeating the same tired old boring insults to the same three or four people, over and over. I hope one day you wake up and realize there another side of the bed you could roll out of. You're pathetic, and you don't have to be. And if you want, shoot back how I'm the pathetic one because I work for a porn company, or I watch reality TV. Because Tom, I am happy where I am, and still young enough to change. You are just a miserable old !@#$ who wishes things were different. Give me your best shot you sad, sad man.

Should've bought a new part instead of trying to rebuild that beat-up POS.

123184[/snapback]

Well, I have a brand new shiny transmission in the garage (just happen to have a spare), but I decided it would be best to keep hoping that the one that is shot would miraculously rebuild itself (after 3 years of not shifting into second gear).

Steve. Are you sure this new and shiny transmission is ready to go? Are you sure it's not one of those "factory refurbished" jobs? I mean, what if this new transmission doesn't get out of first gear either?.... You'll be in the same situation. On the other hand, if you continue to drive with this POS transmission you will continue to get the same results. You could go out and get one of those Matthews factory refurbished trannys... they would bridge the gap till you make the decision to put the brand new tranny in.

I guess at least if you put the new tranny in and it doesn't work, you know you've got to get rid of the POS car. But if that new tranny works, you look like a real dumb SOB for having that tranny in the garage and letting it collect dust.

Uh, should someone mention to the flamer who started the thread that transmissions "go out" due to reasons other than self-destruction?

While I appreciate the attempt at a funny analogy it would be better if it were accurate. Case in point, the number one reason transmissions fail is because something else leaked into it; further, the leak is usually caused by this outside agent.

So are you trying to say that the OL is really the cause of DB's bad play? If so, well done in your analogy. If not, you should read more.

By the way, post of the day should go to Dan Gross - the one early in this thread.

Well done.

Not to speak for Tom, but in your case, I think it goes a lot further than "one post".
