I'm not sure we want "A" List guys

As has been pointed out by many posters these "A" list guys dont come without warts - there are no Bill Belicheks in this group. Lets not live in someone elses past glory (drew Bledsoe acquisition) - rather lets find the next young and hungry Bill polian out there who can then identify a top young coordinator who is also talented and hungry and build our new future.

The main thing an "A" list signing brings is you know then that the organization will be structured again and financial committment will be made to scouts and to talented coordinators. Of course an "A" list name helps sell tickets - but in the end its winning that sells tickets.

The killer to the Bills organization was not when Polian left (because only he left) - he left the blueprint and entire structure in place for John Butler and AJ Smith could continue to drive. The killer was when Butler and AJ Smith left bringing to SanDiego both the blue print and philosophy used by the Bills since 1986 and ofcourse grabbing many of the top scouts - the organization Donaho 'built' to replace Polian's blueprint was bull*&^&^.

Also the key to Polian was not his drafting (he was not perfect there)...but look who he acquired via trades. Art Still, Leonard Smith, James Lofton, Cornelius Bennet - signed Steve Christie Plan B. And this includes having his trade for Pierce Holt nixed by Littman in Detroit.

You have this about right. Naturally, they are going all out to get an over-the-hill, self-absorbed HC like MS or BC, when they should be jettisoning Brandon and finding another GM like Polian was when he started and then re-building from the top. The next HC should be way down the line and , as you say, a young man with hungry eyes.

So,

1. Fire Russ, Littman and the whole FO

2. Find the GM

3. GM finds his scouts

4. GM find his HC

5. HC finds his assistants

6. GM drafts some play-makers

I'm not quibbling but Lofton was acquired as an FA for the $100 waiver fee. I only point that out because I STILL can't believe all those other teams in front of us in the waiver wire pecking order could have had him.

GREAT pick-up by Polian and co. And it only cost us a C-note. Really underscores your point about Polian and his personnel people.

GO BILLS!!!
