bills7834 Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 My daughter has a homework assignment "Why the Bills will never win the superbowl" Any help would be greatly appreciated. Funny responses are okay. Here is what she has so far: 1. Ralph Wilson does not spend enough money to hire a proven coach. The most successful Bills head coach was Marv Levy and he was bought in for very little money. He didn’t have much success before coming to Buffalo. Ralph basically was very lucky that Marv was as successful as he was. 2. When they chose to spend a lot of money on a free agent player they tend to not be very wise with the choice. An example is spending $6.5 million on Terrell Owens, when his best years are behind him. The only category he is leading on the Bills is dropped passes. 3. There is a good chance that the team will move to Toronto in the very near future. The Bills are nowhere close to getting to the playoffs let alone the Super Bowl, before they could move to Toronto. 4. The Bills have been to 4 consecutive Super Bowls and haven’t won one. Many of those players are now in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Bills don’t have few players to even make the annual NFL Pro Bowl let alone future Hall of Famers. 5. The Bills have started over ten quarterbacks since Jim Kelly has retired. They can’t seem to find a quality player for arguably the most important position in all of professional sports. 6. Every year for the past three to five years the Bills have drafted more players for the skilled positions. The games are won by the big players on the defensive and offensive lines. They have done a poor job selecting these positions. 7. The Bills haven't had very good success picking a good head coach (see 1). They have a new coach about every three years. The players learn a new system and then get a new coach, and have to start over. It is no coincidence that the team that has won the most Super Bowls in the NFL has only had three head coaches in its entire history, the Pittsburgh Steelers. 8. Ralph Wilson is 91 years old and has no heir apparent to take over the team after he passes away. It is difficult to lure a big name coach and general manager to take over a team that has an uncertain future whether it be located. 9. The city of Buffalo and the surrounding area does a very poor marketing job on how great Buffalo actually is. I have lived on California, Florida, South Carolina and now back in Western New York. People from around the country have a very pessimistic view of Buffalo. This view widely shared by many doesn’t help attract big name players. These players are twenty something year old millionaires looking for fun and excitement. 10. Hell has not froze over yet.

The Steelers have had 16 head coaches in their history: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Pitts...rs_head_coaches
Hossage Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Buffalo is a loser city. All of it. We are just one depressed, pathetic mass of people, and we always will be. Our players, coaches and managers do not feel they need to do a good job for us. I hate it, but thats how it is.

Alaska Darin Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Incorrect. The Steelers have had 16 head coaches in their history: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Pitts...rs_head_coaches 3 coaches in the Super Bowl era.
Lori Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 3 coaches in the Super Bowl era. Close, but not quite. Bill Austin counts.
Thurman#1 Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 It's likely that your daughter's teacher doesn't live under a rock and like everyone else on the planet Earth knows the reason that the Buffalo Bills will never win the SB is: Nah, what's likely is that the reason / reasons that the Bills will never win the SB are pretty much the same reasons that people gave before 2004 for the clear fact that the Red Sox would never win a World Series championship.
KRC Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 3 coaches in the Super Bowl era. Because NFL history did not start until the Super Bowl era.
