Now, seven months after Barack Obama's victory, CNN's ratings have gone down the drain.

From May of last year to May of this year, CNN lost 22% of its total primetime audience. MSNBC was down 2%, while FoxNews was up 24%. In the key advertising demographic (25-54), Fox was up 31%, CNN was down 37% and MSNBC was down 26%. In hard numbers, Fox had 109,000 more viewers than last year while CNN lost 113,000. CNN averaged fewer than 200,000 25-54 viewers in primetime. Even MSNBC averaged more viewers than that.

 

 

 

And yet more painful ratings facts reported by Schonfeld:

 

Total day was nearly as bad, with Fox up 24% and CNN down 7%. MSNBC was down 2% in total viewing.

Fox is beating CNN almost two-to-one in most categories.

 

 

 

Having faced the facts on the dismal ratings of CNN, Schonfeld proceeds to avoid the real reason why his network is failing:

A day after the Senate begins debate on health care legislation a new survey from Rasmussen Reports shows the highest level of opposition yet recorded. In a staggering reversal from last week the poll suggests just 38% of American voters now favor the Democratic health care plan

 

The health care bill is only part of anti-Obama stance. Furthermore, when you say that "the majority of Americans value something different than you", I assume you are referring to the election results. Well there is a disconnect between the Obama that people voted for and the Obama they are coming to know. His approval rating is below 50%. He is losing independents and moderate democrats in droves.

 

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama's job approval rating has dropped below 50 percent in a second major poll in an indication he is suffering from the long healthcare debate and weakness in the economy, Gallup said on Friday.

 

Gallup said 49 percent of Americans approved of Obama's job performance. A survey by Quinnipiac University on Wednesday had a similar finding, putting him at 48 percent support.

 

It was the first time he had fallen below majority support in those two polls. He had been polling in the low 50s for months after taking office in January with an approval rating just under 70 percent.

I listen to lib talk on the radio once a week or so to stay in tune with the left (wrong) side. This morning, Bill Press (who is a lightweight) had some White House spokeswoman on who spoke about the Senate bill providing preventative care (doctor visits) at no cost to 10's of millions of people who don't have access to preventative care now. I thought, WTF? No access? So if you don't have insurance you can't go to the doctor? Bullcrap. When I was a kid if my Mom thought I might have a strep throat, she took me to the Doctor who checked me out, did a test and sent me home with a prescription. My mom wrote a check for the doctor visit before we left the Doctor's office. You can still do that today. Not expensive. What a common sense approach. Don't bother the insurance company for the small stuff, and don't pay the premium for simple doctor visit coverage. We had insurance for "hospitalization" or other catastophic care. What a common sense approach. Obama doesn't get this (common sense). That's why his approval rating is tanking. Everything he stands for belies common sense.

Yes, I am aware that roughly about 50% of people that have been polled support a government run option to compete against private insurers, and that number use to be alot higher than what it is today. Which tells me one of two things, and that is that the more that people know about a government run option and it's unintended consequences such as raising insurance premiums and the possible effects it has on the deficit tends to make people want to run away from this option or that the liberals are losing the P.R war.

 

My guess is that it is a little bit of both.

 

But one thing is for sure, people don't like the plans that are being introduced today, and my fear is that there is too much at stake for the liberals to not pass this bill, even if it that means passing a bad bill.
