BLZFAN4LIFE Posted November 21, 2009 Share Posted November 21, 2009 I hope that this post doesn't get bounced to PPP, because I find that only a small portion of TSW'ers participate there, and the one's who do are fimly entrenched in their political ideology. I've been watching WW2 in HD on the History Channel this week. It served as a reminder of how great this country once was. We mobilized, fought, sacrificed for, and won a world war on two major fronts. It is quite a shame and a sham to see what has become of this once great country and it's political leadership. We've got a president traveling to Asia and apologizing for the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Bowing to the Japanese Emperor. Telling the Chinese that we will no longer be so arrogant as to try to spread our ideals to the rest of the world. We have an administration that is pushing us towards greater Government control and less individual liberty. An administration that feels that America has had it too good for too long and would like to see us settle in with the rest of the pack. I say !@#$ that! The America that I love is the land of the free and the home of the brave. We are not followers, we are leaders! The America that our current administration would like to see us become is not the America that over 400,000 U.S. soldiers fought and died for. As a matter of fact, I believe that every one of them, to a man, would spit in the face of the ideology that the current administration holds dear. I present the following passage from the Declaration on Independence: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security. It is not likely to go this far in this day and age, but people really need to pay attention to the direction in which the current administration has our country heading. We the people must ensure that this truly is a Government of the people, by the people, and for the people. Too many good people have sacrificed for our traditional American ideals to have them thrown away now. Paul Simon said it best in "Have a Good Time"... It started with the first unpopular effort in Korea, then we killed a president, then we had Vietnam, and slowly have devolved into a Nation of People who are easily offended, thin-skinned, Blow-hards. I will sue! You cant call me that! My coffee is too hot! You were mean to me! You looked at me funny! We were a Nation who conquered all. Space. Freedom. Ideology. Technology. Science. Medicine. We stood against Nazism, and Fascism, and Socialism. Now, we are becoming Socialist by choice. We are a shell of what, and who we once were. We are afraid of being sued, or thrown in jail, let alone stand up and fight for an Ideal, or God forbid die for one. We can't and wont defend our own borders for crying out loud. We are Nation of short memories. How many remember 9/11? We need to move past the anger we are told. we wont show the towers coming down because we dont want to cause pain. We need to be more understanding of people who are harming us, instead of fighting back, we are told. We are embarrassed for being strong, opinionated, kind, and generous. We give away our rights to be "safer". We agree to surveillance at levels I would have never thought possible. We let the Politicians tell us what we can do, and say, and think, and listen to. Whatever happened to live and let live? Where are we headed? What will The USA be like in another 20 years? The Nation you have been admiring from just 70 years ago, IMO, doesn't exist anymore. Again, these are just opinions. Others may be different. Flame away if you must. It is after all what we have become. My opinion is neither right nor wrong, as is anybody else's. It is about time we mobilize as God fearing , freedom loving Americans and show this Liberal agenda forcing, Democratic stanglehold having Government, that we mean business. I can't wait to see if they crash and burn. I think we all must become active and anyone who voted these clowns into Office...I hope you are happy .Is this the change you were after? Falling so far from grace as BLZFAN4LIFE so perfectly put. We are protected under the Constitiution and we are all being violated by this Administration. Why? Because they think there is nothing we can do about it. They are wrong to read this topic brings tears to my eyes and like I said on election day I weep for this Country. The Libs want this to become the new Sodom and Gomora. Remember, the Lib/Dems realize desensitization works so watch your children and what they are being exposed to not only in school but on T.V. also. The Liberal agenda is starting to target our children. Even Disney channel participates in endoctrinating our kids. Keep hope alive , defend the Constitution, Don't give up. A lot of that admiration stemmed from WWII accomplishments of the US. Ive lived here for 10 years now and its a castrated version of the great country it was. Self neutered by choice. Whatever who the USSR pres was that said the US would destroy from within was correct I guess. Ironic since it was the Soviets that ended up doing so. Anyway, its almost like its there is this world order thing going on where everyone is going to be the same. And there can't be a successful, independent free thinking outfit like the US making everyone else look bad. So we have this jerk off president in place now to carry on the self destruction. You make a lot of good points. First the part about Korea and Vietnam. I've always said that the biggest secret of U.S history is that we have fought two wars against China and our record is no wins, one loss, and a tie. Now they hold all the cards because they fund our federal government. China is holding $776 billion in US Treasury Securities. We pay them $6.1 million dollars per day in interest. Pretty sweet, huh? Secondly, the part about the government telling us what to think and do, most people are too busy in their daily lives to pay attention to what is going on. They watch CNN and listen to NPR and take what they hear at face value. Never taking time to question the answers or consider the political slant of the information that they are being given. Hell, prohibition started in 1919! That was a pretty major event depicting how far from the intent of our constitution we had traveled. BTW, I like having the occasional political discussion on this board, and it is usually more civil, at least through the first few pages, than anything on PPP, but a post slamming the current administration as if they are the only ones responsible for everything wrong in with the country today is pretty much the definition of what belongs over there. The real reason is the decline of moral values in the citizenry. And not just the obvious things like drugs and sex. Much more subtle is the lack of economic morals. From poor folks who rip off welfare and refuse to work,to the rich who export the jobs that used to feed families and eliminate workers to increase executive pay. Everybody does whatever thay can get away with,instead of whats right and good for others. Until we get back to doing the right thing and willfully taking care of each other,instead of being forced to by our government,this country will continue to decline. No matter who's in office.
