Tim Anderson's Lunch Pail Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 All of the excitement that goes with the names being thrown around got me thinking: What if Wilson/Brandon were planning for this? After they signed Jauron to the extension, maybe the Bills figured they would be better served keeping Jauron for one more season to save some money. If we made the playoffs, great. If not, they knew that there would be several big names available in this upcoming offseason that weren't going to jump right into another job. Additionally, figuring the season could very well be a wash, they signed TO to help the season ticket numbers for this year until they could get one of the big names. Makes sense to me. If they coveted Shanahan, would it have been the right choice to fire Jauron last year and sign someone else all the while knowing they could wait one more year to get their guy? Probably not. If we had to endure one more year of Jauron to get a real coach, that is fine by me.
TheChimp Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 A ONE-year extension would have made sense, in that regard. Not a three-year deal. IMHO.

I'm saying this occured after they already goofed on the three year extension and had to make a decision about Jauron in the offseason.
