Thailog80 Posted November 17, 2004 Posted November 17, 2004 After some thought on the Desperate Housewives stuff is it really any worse than the NFL's Levitra commercials? They both indirectly promote the same thing.
BuckeyeBill Posted November 17, 2004 Posted November 17, 2004 Exactly... those erectile commericals make my skin crawl. I hate them... the skit was uncalled for, but you have pointed out a real hypocracy there. If you condemn one, condemn the other as well. I personally condemn both.
DPR4444 Posted November 17, 2004 Posted November 17, 2004 what "offends" me is that a game that historically has started at 9:00 or shortly thereafter is now starting at about 9:15 so they can include a stupid promotional commercial for a show I'd never watch anyway.
BuffOrange Posted November 17, 2004 Posted November 17, 2004 As Artie Lang said on Stern this morning, I was more offended by George Lopez in the booth.
aussiew Posted November 17, 2004 Posted November 17, 2004 OK - I'm seeing all these posts but I missed the start of MNF. Can ANYONE tell me what happened?
Mile High Posted November 17, 2004 Posted November 17, 2004 Ya know I missed that whole TO thingy... Was it really that bad. Is it online anywhere?
Just Jack Posted November 17, 2004 Posted November 17, 2004 Did anyone notice that the inflatable helmet the Pats use when coming out onto the field has a Levitra ad on it? Gives new meaning to the phrase "inflated helmet".
stevestojan Posted November 17, 2004 Posted November 17, 2004 OK - I'm seeing all these posts but I missed the start of MNF. Can ANYONE tell me what happened? 121897[/snapback] They had a cheesy skit where one of the slutty chicks from Desperate Houswives was in the locker room with Terrell Owens as he was supposedly getting ready to head out on the field. She wanted him to stay with her. She was dressed in nothing but a towel. He said he had to go. She dropped the towel, revealing <GASP> her back. He picked her up and they embraced, and he said the guys would have to play without him. Out of place for a MNF game? Yes. Offending? Not to me, but Im sure to some bible thumping right wingers. Stupid? 100%.

Yeah I know your generation doesnt mind but Im trying to keep my sons innocence as long as I can. He's a friggin' kid trying to watch a game with his dad. But !@#$ that as long as ABC gets its ratings morality means stevestojan.

BuffOrange Posted November 17, 2004 Posted November 17, 2004 Actually, the outrage over the whole Janet Jackson deal was one of the few things the left & right agreed with each other. The PC crowd is out of hand, and both parties are to blame.

GG Posted November 17, 2004 Posted November 17, 2004 I've always wondered why Bob is smiling all the time (as is his wife). But seriously, anyone have a link?
Guest Guest Posted November 17, 2004 Posted November 17, 2004 Kids that are still up that late (9:00PM!!!) on a school night, have probably seen much worse than the naked back of a woman.

aussiew Posted November 17, 2004 Posted November 17, 2004 Thanks for taking the time to give me an explanation Steve. I'm still puzzled as to how that skit belongs in Monday Night Football. Cheezy or not, liberal or conservative, it doesn't matter. When one turns on MNF, that's what we expect to see....not a dropped towel in the locker room. I agree - that's just out of place.
stevestojan Posted November 17, 2004 Posted November 17, 2004 But Kelly, do you think seeing that girls back will have any affect on your son? I mean, you see worse in a Shampoo commercial (especially Herbal Essence). I mean, if you and your son are gonna sit down for a FB game, the commercials could be more embarrassing that that skit: Viagara ("remember that guy that used to call "wild thing"'?) or Levitra ("if your erection lasts longer than 4 hours, call the doctor immediatly") or Poise pads ("in case you always piss yourself, use poise"), or Tampon commercials about what happens when a girl sits down too long and she has to stand up quickly: LEAKS! oh joy! I mean, I understand, your son is 10, and you want to try to protect him, but this one instance was pretty tame compared to some of the stuff you can see in the 2 minute breaks.
