dave mcbride Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 http://www.pro-football-reference.com/coaches/ShanMi0.htm He had two losing seasons in fourteen years. Statistically, the offense never once finished in the bottom half of the league.

Rico Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 http://www.pro-football-reference.com/coaches/ShanMi0.htm He had two losing seasons in 14 seasons, and statistically the offense never once finished in the bottom half of the league. Plus he had a loser QB in Jay Cutler for the end of his run, that certainly didn't help his overall record.
PromoTheRobot Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 What was his record post-Elway? 1-4 in the playoffs. Not so great. PTR
Stl Bills Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Plus he had a loser QB in Jay Cutler for the end of his run, that certainly didn't help his overall record. The guy made a winner out of Jake Plummer for god's sake....I would be happy just watching some consistantly competitive football at this point.
dave mcbride Posted November 18, 2009 Author Posted November 18, 2009 What was his record post-Elway? 1-4 in the playoffs. Not so great. PTR The operative word is "playoffs," as in he was actually in them. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth ...
Stl Bills Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 What was his record post-Elway? 1-4 in the playoffs. Not so great. PTR Dude, at least he had 5 games in the playoffs post Elway.....we haven't been to the playoffs in a damn decade.
Stl Bills Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 The operative word is "playoffs," as in he was actually in them. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth ... beat me to it.
SDS Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 What was his record post-Elway? 1-4 in the playoffs. Not so great. PTR you are missing the point. It is a coach AND QB league. You need BOTH to win consistently.
webtoe Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 What was his record post-Elway? 1-4 in the playoffs. Not so great. PTR Yeah, but that win was against the Pats*
PromoTheRobot Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 The operative word is "playoffs," as in he was actually in them. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth ... Trust me. The thrill of being in the playoffs will dull after a couple of first-round losses. Is our goal making the wild-card or the Super Bowl? I'm not sold on hiring a once-great-but-not-so-much-now coach. This Marc Trestmann guy is intriguing. PTR
PromoTheRobot Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 you are missing the point. It is a coach AND QB league. You need BOTH to win consistently. Well he had Jake Cutler who many here were frothing for the Bills to trade for. PTR
BuffaloWings Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Trust me. The thrill of being in the playoffs will dull after a couple of first-round losses. Is our goal making the wild-card or the Super Bowl? I'm not sold on hiring a once-great-but-not-so-much-now coach. This Marc Trestmann guy is intriguing. PTR Again, don't look a gift horse in the mouth. For now, I just want improvement and consistently good play. Besides, do you really think one year of Shanahan would get this team to the Super Bowl?
WVUFootball29 Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Well he had Jake Cutler who many here were frothing for the Bills to trade for. PTR Cutler would have been a mass improvement over Fitzedwards....Cutler to TO would have been nice. Instead its Cutler to Johnny Knox....what a waste of a QB
Chalkie Gerzowski Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 This Marc Trestmann guy is intriguing. he's been the QB coach at about 745 different places, including Cardinal O'Hara H.S.
PromoTheRobot Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Again, don't look a gift horse in the mouth. For now, I just want improvement and consistently good play. Besides, do you really think one year of Shanahan would get this team to the Super Bowl? Of course not. Look, I know nothing. Shanahan could be the greatest or he could be a massive disappointment. But that goes for anyone we hire. But know this...If Shannahan won a Super Bowl in Buffalo, he'd be the first head coach in NFL history to win one with two teams. PTR
quikchomp Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 What was his record post-Elway? 1-4 in the playoffs. Not so great. PTR Our record is 0-1 post-Elway, 1-4 sounds great to me.
