If it's the Shanahans, I'd guess that the Texans would let Kyle out of his contract to go work for his father. Especially given that HC Gary Kubiak is a protege of Mike. If it's the Schottenheimers, I'd say there's no way the Jets would let us take Brian in a lateral move. Though possible: Marty GM, Brian HC.

Brilliant!!!

Get er done Marv, er... Russ... er... Ralph, er... Ralph's handlers?

My guess is that they're talking about Real-T and the Ferguson brothers. Between them they have won every Super Bowl over the past 5 years.

They'll probably bring in either Chapman or Bates to coach the D.

Not too shabby, I'd be on board with Marty-ball.

I wouldn't. He's going to be 67 by next season and has a 5-13 playoff record, with a knack for going ultra-conservative a la Herm Edwards in high pressure situations. Pass.

It was already excerpted above but not clearly in quotes. Judging by the continued speculation after the excerpt, here it is again from ESPN Insider:

"Several pundits -- including AFC East blogger Tim Graham -- have suggested that the team may go with Marty Schottenheimer, who was dumped by the Chargers after leading them to a 14-2 record in the 2007 season, and who played for the Bills in the 1960's.

An interesting angle to the Schottenheimer hire would be that it would open the door for him to hire his son, Brian Schottenheimer, as offensive coordinator -- a reverse of what Lane Kiffin did at the University of Tennessee in hiring his pops as the defensive coordinator. Brian was considered a leading candidate to take over as head coach of the New York Jets following the ouster of Eric Mangini, but the team eventually hired Rex Ryan, which did not sit well with Schottenheimer at the time. Going further with this hypothetical, we could foresee the Schottenheimers setting up a progression plan in Buffalo, where Marty would coach for a set period, then the team could have an easy transition to Brian."

Wouldn't that be nice? There is the Bills highly-desired "CONTINUITY!" (not sure if I spelled that right?)
