Enough with the 3-4, changing now would set this team back about another 2-3 years, and its one of the only units that has been decent the last few years. The defensive line is in major need of an overhaul, anyway, with three starters on the wrong side of 30. At linebacker, Mitchell will be 31 and is coming off major injury, Posluszny has never been able to stay healthy and guys like Ellison are a dime a dozen. They have big problems, anyway, so if they think that its in their best long-term interests to switch back to the 3-4, this would seem as good a time as any, IMO. silvermike Posted November 18, 2009 Share Posted November 18, 2009 Yeah, right now we don't have a front 7 that's well adapted to any defensive scheme. The talent worth preserving is Posluzny, Stroud, Williams, and Schobel, with at least an attempt made at playing Maybin. Stroud and Williams could be two ends in a 3-4, if they could add a big NT in the first round, I think that puts us in reasonable shape, with Maybin, Posluzny, Mitchell, and Ellison at LB. Schobel would likely play situationally as a pure pass rusher in this scheme, and we could end up with a 4-2-5 nickel. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
