rockpile
WTF? Who the !@#$? The Who has two remaining members - Peter Townsend (lead guitar and author of most of their music) and Roger Daltrey (the most recognizable voice of the Who) I am not sure who plays bass or drums now. I saw them about 1973 right after they released "Who's Next" in front of 6,000 in Rochester and again at the Ralph about 1984, after they released "Who Are You" with an audience of 80,000. At that time Kenny Jones (formerly of Humble Pie) was the drummer. Keith Moon died of self inflicted drug and alcohol binges (1980 or so), and just a few years ago my favorite bassist John (Thunder Fingers) Entwhistle died of cancer. When all four original members were together and alive, NO ONE made better rock and roll. I hope I die before I get old. Age is relative.
bdelma
Zak Starkey (Ringo's son) and John Entwhistle did not die of cancer. How about cocaine binging.
bdelma
Kenny Jones played with Humble Pie? really. That's not true either
JÂy RÛßeÒ
Zak Starkey (Ringo's son) and John Entwhistle did not die of cancer. How about cocaine binging. According to Wikipedia: Entwistle died in a hotel room at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on 27 June 2002 one day before the scheduled first show of The Who's 2002 US tour. He had gone to bed that night with a stripper, who woke at 10 am to find Entwistle cold and unresponsive. Although Entwistle's female companion was not identified at the inquest she is known to be Alison Rowse, 32, who dances under the stage name Sianna at the city's Deja Vu club. A self-confessed Who groupie, she would meet up with the rock star whenever he was in town. The Las Vegas medical examiner determined that death was due to a heart attack induced by an undetermined amount of cocaine. Though the amount in Entwistle's bloodstream was not great, the drug caused his coronary arteries, already damaged due to a pre-existing heart condition, to contract. Entwistle used cocaine throughout much of his adult life.[3]

JÂy RÛßeÒ
Michael Jackson is playing the half time show I actually saw him do the halftime of SB XXVII. This was one of the first megastar halftime shows - the 2 years before that were New Kids on the Block in Tampa and then Gloria Estefan with some ice skaters in Minneapolis. rockpile
Sigh. Zak Starkey (Ringo's son) and John Entwhistle did not die of cancer. How about cocaine binging. I knew Ringo's son was the drummer after Kenny Jones. Officially, Zak is not a member of the Who. (and is also not dead) I mixed up celeb deaths - heart attack after a cocaine binge is correct. Kenny Jones played with Humble Pie? really. That's not true either Kenny Jones played in Small Faces, whose guitarist left to join Humble Pie. Who will play the halftime show? (I can't explain)
Buftex
It seems like the only rock n' roll dinosaurs they haven't had play, and and the only one that would cause real excitement, at this point, is Led Zeppelin. Love the Who, but I liked them a lot more on their first "farewell tour", about 27 years ago..

This is not correct, Pete Townshend just got divorced in Sept 2009. Is dating Rachel Fuller. Your thinking of Eric Clapton.
stuckincincy
This is not correct, Pete Townshend just got divorced in Sept 2009. Is dating Rachel Fuller. Your thinking of Eric Clapton. Well, I got it half right - it's Peter Frampton. However, I can reliably name all of the Beatles, at least two of the Rolling Stones, and evidently 2 members of the Who. That's probably it for me... BTW, today is the 30th anniversary of a tragedy in Cincinnati, when 11 people died during a crush to get into a Who concert. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/2009120...+tragedy+linger
