Ramius Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 I decided to get a bit of an early start to some christmas shopping, so i made a couple of orders from amazon the other day. Just basic simple stuff like books and DVDs that were all in stock. As i always do when using amazon, i use the free super saver shipping, which states it ships in 5-9 days. In all my years of using amazon, if something was in stock, it would usually have an estimated ship date of a few days out, and then take a week or so to get to my house. Well this time i was a bit shocked when i was told that the estimated ship date wasn't until Nov 30 to Dec 7. Is amazon intentionally not processing orders if you use the free shipping? The same group of books/movies would process and ship immediately if i paid for 1/2 day shipping or if i used the regular shipping. So why the 3-4 week delay just because i wanted free shipping? Has anyone else encountered an issue like this? Or is amazon trying to make a cheap money grab by almost "forcing" people to pay for shipping?
Chef Jim Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 My wife had an issue similar to this awhile back if I remember correctly. And I think the reason was is that some things they drop ship from a third party which means you're now waiting on someone that Amazon has no real control over. I'll check with her to get the details.
Fezmid Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Chef's explanation sounds right. I order so much from Amazon that it makes sense to buy the Amazon Prime service and split it with my "family" members. $20/year for free 2-day shipping (only only $4/order to get overnight in a pinch) is definitely worth it. Has anyone else encountered an issue like this? Or is amazon trying to make a cheap money grab by almost "forcing" people to pay for shipping? How is it a money grab to charge for shipping? The Super Saver Shipping isn't a right, it's an added service for people that don't mind waiting longer for their stuff. If the wait is too long, you pay. Most likely, due to Christmas coming up, the free shipping has been given a longer time-line due to such high demand. Amazon isn't "forcing" you to do anything.
Ramius Posted November 11, 2009 Author Posted November 11, 2009 Fixed. Nah, i get that stuff from Adam and Eve.
Chef Jim Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Nah, i get that stuff from Adam and Eve. Dad, is that you?
John Adams Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 I ONLY use free shipping and never have this problem. Usually get my stuff in a week.
ricojes Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 I Blame Jauron, Obama GW Bush, Mike Schopp, TO, Jason Peters, and John & Kate A little edit...Makes it more believable, other than that....
Beerball Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Something else to consider...they have to be ready to ship products for those paying a premium. We're closing in on black Friday so they could be pushing all free shipping orders out in preparation. I wouldn't be surprised to find that you received your order more quickly, but they (Amazon) are probably erring on the side of caution (you'll be happy if you get your porn before the expected date...but, you'd be all pent up and frustrated if it arrived late).
IDBillzFan Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 I ONLY use free shipping and never have this problem. Usually get my stuff in a week. Same here. The only time I ever experience a slight hold-up is when the sale is from someone other than Amazon, but even then it goes out pretty quickly. If I were you, I'd take it personally.
dib Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 I tried shipping an Amazon once but her legs kept sticking out of the box. What?

Do you work for Amazon, beerball? Got an email today from them apologizing for the delay with the new pornography arrival date bumped from dec 7-14 up to the week of thanksgiving.

Ramius Posted November 12, 2009 Author Posted November 12, 2009 Who the hell pays for porn these days? Christmas gifts. Read the original post. A christmas card with a url on it just isn't the same as the real thing. Which gives me a good idea. Porn website subscriptions sold as gift cards. I can buy a gift card that lets me go to outback, carrabbas, bonefish grill, or olive garden, so why not a gift card with a dollar value, login and password to be redeemed at a variety of adult entertainment websites?
