ExiledInIllinois Posted November 5, 2009 Share Posted November 5, 2009 Last Saturday a sailboat on Lake Michigan called out a MAYDAY while heading into port (downtown Chicago). They Said that they were NOT in trouble or either was the boat they were towing, just towing a disabled (no working motor) SAILboat (can't they sail out of trouble?) into port and they were afraid of missing the 0900 bridge raisings in the Chicago Loop! That is a first. Kinda like dialing 911 on the marine band (VHF-FM) radio... Basically saying: "Hey, I am being a good samaritan helping this guy... But I don't want to miss my bridge so I am calling MAYDAY." People, especially sailboats never cease to amaze me! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
