The Poojer
my point is...the thread is called congratulations Bills/Yankees fans...which I am taking to mean those fans of the Bills that are also fans of the Yankees...you appear to be a non-fan of the yankees....so why bother coming in and injecting negativity while those of us are trying to enjoy a win that we frankly feel pretty good about.....do you just need to hear yourself talk? Now I am certain that there are other threads about the evil yankees on the baseball forum that your opinion of the financial situation of the sport would be welcomed and more appropriate....but this is like going to a wedding reception and talking to the couple and their family about the misery of the institute of marriage.... The Yankee's were heavy favorites, sorry for not sugar coating it. It would have been a major upset had they not won. I'll give them credit for winning though, they did what they were supposed to do. Like a Yankee fan gives a rat's ass about my comments, please. They won the World Series and that's the bottom line...
PushthePile
Yes, he was 2006 MVP. But, he was also 2009 NLCS MVP. And I disagree with you regarding how valuable Howard is to the Phillies. You think Utley would see the same fat pitches to hit if you or I were hitting behind him? Look I'm not trying to say Howard is a bad player. I think he's very good and young too. I believe that right now Utley is a better and more valuable player. Utley beats you in many different ways. He beats you with his glove, he beats with his bat, he beats you with his head, and he does alot of little things that don't show up in the box score. Utley moves runners over, he works counts that wear down pitchers, he can lay a bunt down if needed, he can steal a base, he can play different positions, he makes "good outs" in critical situations. Ryan Howard is a one or two trick pony at this point of his career. He is a great HR hitter but if he's cold at the plate he's invisible. Utley, Howard, Werth, and Ibanez are all good enough to protect eachother. They all benefit from eachothers talent. The Yankees were pitching around and intentionally walking Utley, to get at Howard with a lefty. I compare Ryan Howard to Dirk Nowitzki. Dirk is a phenominal scorer and won a league MVP but is not a complete player. He is great at what he does and has alot of value but he is not the best. I'd choose alot of non-mvp winners ahead of him. If I was to start a franchise i'd pick Howard. If I wanted to make a run at a world series and the season started tomorrow I'd choose Utley. The Poojer
no you are completely on topic....you were discussing the series and morphed into reasons why the phillies weren't as competitive as they could have been...i was responding to someone that has no interest in the yankees, in fact seems to have a pretty healthy dislike for them....yet in a congratulatory thread to yankee fans, he feels the need to inject his negative opinions.....frankly i really don't care what people feel about the yankees, that doesnt affect my support of them....just seems like a waste of time to comment on something that doesn't interest you....just my little soap box rant... I don't care what the haters say either Pooj. This win feels great from a fans perspective. As a fan of the Yankees you feel like its us against the world. I'm glad to walk around feeling like the world took one on the chin last night.

I didn't say anything negative. I said the heavy favorites won, wich wasn't a surprise to me and I personally was not interested, that's all. Hey I would be thrilled if Ralph bought a championship. I think what Florida did was disrespectfull to the game. They bought a championship and then tore the team apart, that was bull. I don't see the Yankee's dumping salary, so I have no issues with it. no you are completely on topic....you were discussing the series and morphed into reasons why the phillies weren't as competitive as they could have been...i was responding to someone that has no interest in the yankees, in fact seems to have a pretty healthy dislike for them....yet in a congratulatory thread to yankee fans, he feels the need to inject his negative opinions.....frankly i really don't care what people feel about the yankees, that doesnt affect my support of them....just seems like a waste of time to comment on something that doesn't interest you....just my little soap box rant... The Poojer
i just get tired of hearing the same old arguments against baseball and more specifically the Yankees...I should just let it go, but I feel the need to defend my team...i would do the same with the Bills and SU sports.....good back and forth between sports fans is what makes being a sports fan so much fun..... ......DICK!!!!
