Nanker
Congrats on #27. For all the "Ralph is a cheap bastard who won't bring in the best players available, ya da da, ya da de... ad nauseam", you certainly can't say that about the Yankees. The Poojer
Great Series, Great Season. Matsui was something else last nite. I would have loved to see Yankee fans give Pedro a nice ovation as he left the game last nite. He has been a real thorn in the side of the Yankees for a long time, and for that and his competitiveness he deserves Yankee's fans respect. I am glad he got pasted last night, but there is no denying the 'fear' he has instilled with his talents and his swagger. I am very happy for 'my' baseball team. There isn't a more deserving champion than Derek Jeter! I still get a kick out of listening to Andy Pettite speak...for some reason, a texas accent sounds odd coming from him.....Too bad The Boss couldn't be there in person to collect the trophy! Congrats on #27. For all the "Ralph is a cheap bastard who won't bring in the best players available, ya da da, ya da de... ad nauseam", you certainly can't say that about the Yankees. BUFFALOTONE
Its a shame they won't be able to keep both Damon and Matsui. You can go 20 years and not see night like Hideki had in a WS game. And for pedro, he is respected by the fans but an ovation is way over the top. This is the same guy who threw Zim to the ground and throws at the heads of our players. Only former Red Suck that gets a standing O is Johnny and Boggs. LET'S GO YANKEES!
thebug
Congrats Yankee fans. Myself, I can't stand them, but you have to give credit where credit is due.
Phlegm Alley
Its a shame they won't be able to keep both Damon and Matsui. You can go 20 years and not see night like Hideki had in a WS game. LET'S GO YANKEES! Not to take anything away from both Matusi's and Damon's great WS play, but I don't think they bring back either one of those guys. They are great players and I feel they both have something left in the tank, however, one of the Yankees biggest weaknesses was the defense in the outfield and Damon and Matsui are both liabilities out there. It was a great series for the Yanks with some timely play by a lot of different contributors. Solid pitching, smart base running and great defense lead to this victory. As far as Pedro, I can respect him for the great career that he had, but he seemed to make the WS all about him and his relationship with the Yankees and their fans both past and present and the majority of the talk centered around his time with the Red Sox. I think it created a huge distraction for the Phillies to have to deal with that constant talk Manuel had to go to him twice in Yankee stadium, and the outcome was the same both times. bills_fan
If only the Bills could buy a championship. Sigh. Ralphie keeps listening to his accountant and pocketing his money. The Bills made what, $40 million last year, according to Forbes? $40 millionwould have gotten us Haynesworth (in his up front, year 1 money) and then maybe we would not be allowing 200+ rushing yards per game. Gotta spend the $$$ Ralphie.
Bullpen
Hilarious post on Deadspin about "The Nation" http://deadspin.com/5397294/important-base...out-the-red-sox My own thoughts on the game FWIW (which is nothing): Now that the WS is over does that mean Jayson Werth and Chase Utley can get back to purchasing Affliction and Ed Hardy shirts? I know it's hectec on the podium during the post-game presentation, but man does Chris Rose bug. Cozying up to Jeter, but calling him "Jeets?" I loved how Posada didn't even really answer his question at all and went with his own message to the fans and Mr. Stienbrenner. Joe Girardi looks as much like Skeletor as Dick Jauron. Jorge, stay behind the g-damn plate!!! We don’t need a conference to get ready for a conference and then another conference to follow up the conference. When Ryan Howard steps into the batters box, can we just forgo the formalities and just give him two strikes to start off with? One of McCarver’s points in his Cliff Lee Scouting Report was: Cliff Lee breaks a lot of bats. Seriously… Who’s dumber Cole Hamels or his wife? According to Heidi, it’s just always been her destiny to have African children, or something like that: “We’re in the process of adopting an AIDS orphan from Ethiopia,” she said. “Maybe two. I’m so pumped. I’d adopt six if I could. When I was five years old — I grew up in a very rural town in Missouri, and I had never even seen a black person — they asked us to draw a picture of ourselves in the future, and I drew myself holding hands with a line of tiny black stick figures. I’ve always wanted this.” So Brett Myers is struggling to stay relevant by provoking his own teammates now? What dressing your son up in a confederate flag, fighting a reporter and punching out your wife wasn’t enough? He does remember he’s Brett “I wasn’t even on the active NLCS roster” Myers and the other Guy is Cole “I have an NLCS and World Series MVP award” Hamel? Whenever I hear the Fox music intro, I feel like I’m watching “The Natural.”

ricojes
One of the most anti-climactic season's ever for baseball. After spending ridiculous money to sign the top 2 FA's and probably 3 of the top 5 FA's this offseason, the overwhelming favorites won it all as they should have. Not that there is anything wrong with spending money, it's well within the rules of MLB. But this is the first year where I didn't watch the world series. I caught bits and pieces, but it just wasn't exciting for me. I went to the Sabres game last night and caught a little of last nights game, they put the baseball game on in the arena in between the 2nd and 3rd period, but that's about all I watched. I woke up this morning, put on sports center, and surprise surprise NY won. Congrats Yankee fans, but it was a snoozer for non NY/Philly fans... With you all the way on this Poojer! The House that Jeter Built! Wearin' my Yankee cap- er CROWN -with pride today, here in the deep south, lovin' every minute of it! Too bad we didn't play the Red Sox. Trailing them 0-8, then winning the season series 10-9 told me this was a championship team! Just as well though, 'Hideki Fuggin' Matsui' just doesn't have the same impact. Congrats Champs!

As for Ryan Howard, I personally like the guy alot but he is so overrated. He seems like a really good kid too. Farthest thing from overrated. Ryan Howard is the best power hitter in baseball. His tears are legendary. So are his slumps. Howard utterly destroys RHP. That was why Marte started the 8th rather than Mo last nite. Howard's kryptonite is LHP. The only time Howard was able to hit LHP was 2006 after working with Tony Gwynn. He won MVP that year and hit .313 with 58 bombs. If Howard kept up the hot tear he was on, you would have likely seen a very different World Series.
